1) If you were just starting out in radio, knowing now, what you didn't then, would you still do it?
Yes, but I didn't realize how little we get paid!!!! At this rate I should hit retirement at about age 175!!!!!!!!
2) What career path would you be following had it not been for this industry?
Porn Star. Cliff Banger would be my first hit!
3) What can we be doing with our station websites to better our stations as a whole?
Promotion, promotion and more promotion. The more people see your logo, the more the will remember to write it down in arbitron.
4) Describe your weekly music meeting: a) what is the process when you listen to new music? b) approximately how important by percentage is gut, research, sales, video play, and chart position when determining the status of a record?
We don't get research, so it's more gut than anything else. We are the only rock station in Jackson so we don't have to jump on everything right away. There is no Alternative station here either, so it's ok for us to play a Coheed and Cambria or 30 Seconds To Mars. Throw in some Godsmack and Disturbed and you have a great sounding radio station.
5) Who is your favorite air personality not on your staff?
It's a toss up between Don Jantzen and Johnny Dare. I worked with both, and they were great influences in my radio career.
6) What is your favorite radio station outside of the market and why?
It was KKND in New Orleans. Great mix of rock and alternative. Any time I was down there I enjoyed listening to them very much.
7) If you could add any one full-time position to your budget with no questions asked, what would it be?
A fluffer!!!!
8) What's the best concert you've been to so far this year and why?
Motley Crue!!!! 'Nuff Said.
9) What is the one truth that has held constant throughout your career?
That this is a cut throat business. The same people that say they're your friends are the same ones that step on your head on their way up the ladder of success.
10) Please describe the best or worst promotion you've ever been part of?
Best promotion? Our Miller Light Crawfish Boil. Two days, tons of killer bands ,crawfish and beer. My friends, it doesn't get any better than that!!!!
What are your three favorite artists or songs of this year?
Evans Blue, "Cold" (But I'm Still Here)", 10 Years, "Wasteland," and Coheed and Cambria, "Welcome Home."
