Danko Jones
Jan 27, 2013

Danko Jones is a Canadian hard rock band from Toronto, Ontario. They released their latest and sixth studio album, Rock and Roll Is Black and Blue via Black Taste Records back on October 9th last year. "Just a Beautiful Day" is the lead single from the album. This record continues the streak of excellent LPs from Danko Jones. Lead singer, Jones (aka Mango Kid) delivers his most melodic vocal performance on it and it abounds with infectious harmonies and hooks. His lyrics remain wonderfully irreverent exploring perhaps all-too-familiar topics with unabashed swagger. Danko's brand of rock is heavily influenced by AC/DC, Thin Lizzy and others.
"We did so much with the last record in terms of stars and storyline and it was a big to-do that I think the only natural thing to do was to take it back," explained Jones. "If we tried to follow up on what we did for the last record with all the celebrities and stuff we'd just become like that band that has all the famous people in their videos - more famous than them. So it was good to just take it a step back. It's cool. I definitely like it."
Danko Jones is a trio consisting of front man and lead guitarist, Danko Jones, John Clabrese on bass drummer Dan Cornelius was replaced by Atom Willard of The Offspring fame. In normal circumstances this would bring some major alternations to any outfit's sound, but here it changes virtually nothing. The fixed style of the trio still revolves around lean, no-holds-barred party rockers that bear a close resemblance equally to fast-paced punk and sleazy classic rock.
Danko Jones will hit the road for 2013 Spring tour with Volbeat and Spoken.
