Alice In Chains
Jan 27, 2013

Formed in Seattle in 1987, American rock band, Alice in Chains recently finished recording their new fifth studio album which is at yet untitled. It was produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Deftones), and it is due for release sometime in the spring of 2013. The first single from the album, released on January 8th is the strong and powerful "Hollow".
"I don't think you'll be surprised by anything you hear," lead singer Cantrell told Revolver about the new CD's musical direction. "It's us. But it's also really unique. It's got all the elements of any record we've put out, but it's unlike any record we've put out. Basically, it's the next chapter in the Alice in Chains book, and it's going to be a big one."
Alice in Chains members include guitarist and songwriter Jerry Cantrell and original lead vocalist Layne Staley. The initial lineup was rounded out by drummer Sean Kinney, and bassist Mike Starr (who was replaced in 1993 by Mike Inez). Since its formation, Alice in Chains has released four studio albums, three EPs, two live albums, four compilations, and two DVDs. Alice in Chains rose to international fame as part of the grunge movement of the early 1990s, along with other Seattle bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. The band was one of the most successful music acts of the 1990s, selling over 25 million albums worldwide. They produced four number one singles, plus eleven top ten singles, on the Billboard charts.
Alice in Chains will be touring this year to promote the new album. The tour kicks off April 25th at the Fillmore in Miami Beach, Florida, and will bring the bands through Birmingham, Norfolk, Milwaukee, Ft. Wayne and several other cities before wrapping up May 24th at the Pinewood Bowl Amphitheater in Lincoln, Nebraska.
