On September 3rd, Columbia Records will release Hesitation Marks, the new full-length album from Nine Inch Nails. Recorded in secret over the last year, Trent Reznor teamed up with producers Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder to create the first new music from the band in five years. Lead single "Came Back Haunted" became available on June 6th on iTunes.
Nine Inch Nails was originally founded in 1988 by Reznor in Cleveland. As its main producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Reznor is the only official member of Nine Inch Nails. Nine Inch Nails' music straddles a wide range of genres. The band has had made eight major studio releases. The most recent releases, Ghosts I-IV and The Slip, both released in 2008, were released under Creative Commons licenses (BY-NC-SA). Nine Inch Nails has been nominated for twelve Grammy Awards and won twice for the songs "Wish" and "Happiness in Slavery", in 1992 and 1996 respectively.
The band has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, released a remarkable series of singles, including the No. 1 Alternative songs "The Hand That Feeds," "Only," "Every Day Is Exactly The Same," and "Survivalism."
After recording a new album, Reznor usually assembles a live band to perform with him. The touring band features a revolving lineup that often rearranges songs to fit a live setting. Recently, he revealed that the new lineup includes Adrian Belew of King Crimson, Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, as well as returning members Alessandro Cortini, and Ilan Rubin.
Nine Inch Nails will be performing at a number of festivals, including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Leeds, Reading, Made In America, and The Voodoo Festival. NIN's Fall 2013 North American arena tour entitled "Nine Inch Nails: Tension 2013" will launch on September 28th at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN and include shows at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY (October 14) and Staples Center in Los Angeles (November 8).
Front-man, Reznor says, "Tension picks up where Lights In The Sky left off. This is the full-on NIN live experience realized as we never could before."
