Chevelle
Feb 9, 2014

Hard rockers Chevelle released their new single "Take Out The Gunman" on February 4th. It comes from the band's upcoming seventh studio album La Gárgola, out on April 1st via Epic Records. It's a fun track that is very much the embodiment of their expected sound. It is the follow-up to their 2011's Hats Off to the Bull. "Take Out The Gunman" is a riff monster in line with classic Chevelle.
Formed in 1995 in Chicago, the band was originally composed of two brothers: Pete Loeffler (lead vocals and guitar), Sam Loeffler (drums and percussion) and Matt Scott (bass and backing vocals). Scott was later replaced by brother Joe Loeffler. When Joe left the band in 2005, Geno Lenardo subbed-in as the bassist until he was replaced by Pete and Sam's brother-in-law, Dean Bernardini. Chevelle has sold over four million albums in the United States. The band's first studio album, Point #1 was released on a small record label called Squint Entertainment. Chevelle's second album, Wonder What's Next, was certified Platinum by the RIAA after a debut at No. 14 on the United States albums chart, Billboard 200. This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In), the band's third album debuted at No. 8 and has been certified Gold. Chevelle has since released a fourth album, Vena Sera, a fifth album, Sci-Fi Crimes, which was released in 2009, and a sixth album Hats Off to the Bull was released in 2011. Other releases from Chevelle include two live albums, DVDs and a compilation of band favorites.
For nearly 15 years, Chevelle have been a bright spot in the stagnant mainstream rock scene, staying true to their influences (Helmet, Deftones, Tool) and standing out amongst a crowd of post-grunge bands sounding completely derivative of one another.
