KYNG
Mar 2, 2014

The Los Angeles-band, Kyng, will be releasing their second full-length album, Burn The Serum on April 15th via Razor & Tie. The first single is "Electric Halo" and the buzzing guitar sounds provide an ominous wall of distortion before lighting up a soaring refrain that hits impressive height. On the collection, the trio really harks back to the essence of heavy rock 'n' roll, forging thunderous percussion to lightning hot riffs driven by a divine vocal howl. At the same time, they keep their eyes wide open towards the future. The band spent time at Grandmaster Recorders LTD and Sword & Shield in Hollywood, CA as well as Studio 606 in Northridge, CA, laying down the disc. Fireball Ministry's James A. Rota and Andrew Alekel, best known for his work on records by Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age, co-produced Burn The Serum.
"We literally started working on Burn The Serum as soon as we finished the first album," says lead singer, Eddie Veliz. "We built on the foundation we had. It's a balance of heavy riffing and these big melodic vocals. It sits between metal and a rock 'n' roll. You can't put your finger on it. It's just what Kyng does."
The members of Kyng are Eddie Veliz on vocals/guitar, Pepe Clarke on drums and Tony Castaneda on bass/backup vocals. Formed in 2011, the group's debut Trampled Sun received critical acclaim for its "California Heavy" sound merging the metallic meanderings of Soundgarden and Queens of the Stone Age with the timeless scope of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin.
Kyng will hit the road this Spring to promote Burn The Serum and appearing at several music festivals; Welcome to Rockville, Carolina Rebellion and Rock on the Range. They will also be part of Seether's Rise Above Fest on May 10th.
