World on Fire is the third solo album by former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, and the second studio album featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. The collection was produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette and it was released on September 16th. The album consists of songs written by Slash and company while on the road. Kennedy had focused on rhythm guitar and vocals on Apocalyptic Love, but due to his touring with Alter Bridge he worked only on vocals for World On Fire. Returning members Todd Kerns and Brent Fitz played bass and drums, respectively, on the album. The album launches with the title track, "World On Fire", which has already rocketed to the upper reaches of the rock charts. The high-energy rocker is a solid intro into the album, showcasing some of the guitar work fans expect, while allowing Kennedy to alternate between power and swagger.
Slash is best known as the former lead guitarist of the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, with whom he achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. During his later years with Guns N' Roses, Slash formed the side project Slash's Snakepit. He then co-founded the supergroup Velvet Revolver, which re-established him as a mainstream performer in the mid to late 2000s. Slash has since released three solo albums, Slash (2010), featuring an all-star roster of guest musicians, Apocalyptic Love (2012) & now World on Fire (2014). Slash has received critical acclaim as a guitarist.
