The 411:
In an unwelcome milestone for the tallest skyscraper on earth, a man jumped to his death yesterday in Dubai, falling 39 floors.
The man, a foreign national, jumped from the 147th floor and landed on the 108th. He left behind a note saying that he had been refused leave by his employer.
It's the first suicide for the building, called the Burj Khalifa, which opened to great fanfare in January 2010. (Maiman)Now that she's leaving her talk show, OPRAH WINFREY wants to head over to Broadway for a stint. Oprah says she'd like to appear in the hit play, "Fences," and met with producers in the Big Apple last weekend to see what she could offer.
If you get a part on a hit show because you're friends with the producer, should you have to pay your agent? Not according to PAULA ABDUL.
The Hollywood Reporter says Paula is refusing to pay the standard 10 percent commission on her recent "X Factor" deal, since she claims she got the gig because she was friends with SIMON COWELL, and not because of anything her agents did.
The folks at the United Talent Agency have repped Paula since she quit "American Idol" two years ago. At stake: ten percent of her reported $3 million salary, or $300-thousand smackers.Boxing films are all in vogue now, and Daily Variety magazine says NAOMI WATTS, LIEV SCHREIBER and CHRISTINA HENDRICKS are going to star in the upcoming movie about former New Jersey heavyweight boxer and womanizer CHUCK WEPNER called "The Bleeder."
Wepner --whose most famous fight was arguably a 15-rounder with MUHAMMAD ALI back in 1975-- is reportedly the inspiration for the movie, "Rocky." His nickname was "The Bayonne Bleeder, and started out his career with losses to GEORGE FOREMAN, SONNY LISTON and others.Royalty report:
PRINCE WILLIAM finally rode off into the sunset with his new bride. A rep over at St. James Palace told Us Weekly the DUKE and DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE are enjoying a private honeymoon, but won't confirm where they went. Rumors are swirling the beautiful duo could be on a private island in the Seychelles, Australia, Mustique, Jordan or Kenya. The newlyweds are quite happy --one source says they call one another "Mr. and Mrs. Wales" at home and hope to stay down-to-earth. (Lee)
A flash mob broke out suddenly in front of Buckingham Palace Monday.
The Daily Telegraph says tourists were waiting for the Changing of the Guard when a huge group of bystanders started dancing to "We Will Rock You" by the group Queen. In all, about a hundred dancers took part (video).
It turns out, the whole thing was organized by Buckingham Palace as a tribute to PRINCE WILLIAM and his new bride KATE. (Still)Use it or lose it:
