Engaged:
former "Malcolm in the Middle" star FRANKIE MUNIZ is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, ELYCIA MARIE TURNBOW. Frankie tweeted the news Saturday after popping the question. Zap2it.com says the pair has had a somewhat rocky relationship: back in February, police were called to the couple's house after a domestic dispute that led to a gun being removed from the property. At the time, it was reported that she may have yelled and hit Muniz in the face, and he may have punched her and thrown her against a wall. The couple has been going together for four years now.

Designer Update:
KARL LAGERFELD is launching a new more affordable line. Now by “affordable,” we’re talking about a range of $95 to about $450 bucks, but that’s a bargain for Lagerfeld lovers. He’s also rolling out a new high-end line that will cost between $400 and $35-hundred bucks. Women’s Wear Daily says the Chanel designer’s “mass prestige” line is rock music inspired will be available primarily online. It hits February 28th. British concert promoters are reportedly slashing ticket prices for the Birmingham leg of BRITNEY SPEARS' Femme Fatale tour after thousands of tickets remained unsold. The London Sun says prices have gone from 55-pounds down to 30 pounds, or in US dollars, from 88 bucks to roughly $48. And in Sheffield, the London Star says promoters are still getting 55 pounds for Brit-Brit's show, but it's buy one, get one free.
Soda study:
A new study shows that teens who drink more than five cans of soda a week are more likely to exhibit signs of violence than their peers.
Findings reported in the journal Injury Prevention explain that the impact of drinking a lot of soda is similar in magnitude to the influence of using tobacco or alcohol. While a high schooler hyped up on a carbonated sugary beverage is not as likely to carry a weapon as a teenager on alcohol or tobacco, the influence of the soda is still considered significant.
Researchers aren’t sure why the link exists. It could be cause-and-effect. Diet has been shown to influence behavior, and soda has a lot of ingredients that could be capable of changing a kid’s behavior, like high fructose corn syrup, aspartame, sodium benzoate, phosphoric or citric acid and caffeine. But there could be other factors not accounted for, and researchers are clear to point out the survey doesn’t prove causality. (Page)
