Those @$#%* Foreigners:
While the world worries about the nuclear ambitions of Iran and North Korea, India has announced that it successfully tested its most advanced long-range nuclear-capable missile to date. A launch early today tested an Agni-V missile, an ICBM that experts say could allow India to hit some cities in China.
Officials say the missile was launched from Wheeler Island, off the coast of the eastern state of Orissa, and reached its intended target about 31-hundred miles out in the Indian Ocean, and was visually tracked along its whole path. (Pacelli)Idle gossip & unconfirmed rumors:
Is the world ready for yet another KARDASHIAN wedding? An insider close to KIM tells In Touch Weekly she's planning to marry KANYE WEST as soon as possible and they just might elope! Word is the bootylicious brunette is "head over heels in love," but there's one minor issue --she's still legally married to KRIS HUMPHRIES. (Lee)
Friends are worried about ALI LOHAN. Pics in this weeks Star magazine show the sister of LINDSAY looking emaciated with stick arms and legs hoping to jumpstart her modeling career. (Myers)
Designer Update:
CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN does not care if it hurts you to walk in his stiletto heels. The designer of high-priced six-inch heels told Grazia that "High heels are pleasure with pain. If you can't walk in them, don't wear them." (Bartha)
School daze:
A Swedish high school student got so angry when his school computer crashed, he allegedly tried to strangle the principal.
According to The Local, the student got annoyed after he couldn't get one of the school computers to work so he started throwing furniture around. Then, he allegedly grabbed some billiard balls and threw them out the window. Staff members say that's when he lit up a cigarette and started pacing around the school grounds. Witnesses say, when the principal approached him, the kid kicked him and put him in a headlock.
Eventually, police showed up and took him into custody. Cops say drugs may have been a factor. (Still)Broadcast, cable and video news:
It's happening --there'll be a new trial for former "Desperate Housewives" actress NICOLLETTE SHERIDAN, who's suing Touchstone TV over what she claims was a wrongful termination from the TV show. She wants $5.7 million and the suit went to trial earlier this year, but the jury became deadlocked and the judge declared a mistrial. Now LA Superior Court judge ELIZABETH WHITE says the case will be tried again Sep 10, but tried to get the parties to come to a settlement before then.
When animals attack:
A Chicago man has been murdered --by a swan.
The NY Post reports 37-year-old ANTHONY HENSLEY was kayaking in a pond at a Chicago condo complex. Witnesses say the bird capsized the boat. Then, it attacked Hensley while he tried to swim ashore. Sadly, he drowned before he could swim to safety.
Editor's note: Police are calling it fowl play.
--It's the real life Angry Birds. (Still) -
