What's Poppin':
A Harley-Davidson that washed up in North America will be reunited with its Japanese owner.
The bike, still in a container its owner had been using as a garage, drifted across the Pacific courtesy of last year's tsunami, winding up on a remote beach in British Columbia. The Harley people tracked down the owner --who lost his home and three family members in the disaster-- and they plan to restore the rusted hog and return it to him.
The Harley's owner, a 29-year-old man who's been living in temporary housing since the tsunami last year, says he is amazed by its survival and he would like to someday thank its finder in person. Asked if he had anything to say to the bike, he laughed and said, "Thanks for coming back, buddy." (Maiman)Pet Patrol:
In Tokyo, Japan, a 64-year-old woman was reunited with her lost pet parakeet after it told the police its home address.
The BBC reports the bird's owner, said she taught the address to her pet after she'd lost her previous bird and bought the new one two years ago.
The bird had escaped on Sunday, and was captured at a nearby hotel where it was perching on a guest's shoulder. It did, however, take two days to tell the cops its name.Grace notes:
RINGO STARR has a new cause. He wants to Save The Rhinos. He posted a photo of a cute little guy on his website and is spreading the word that the rhinocerous is on the endangered species list. (Marino)
Reality Round-Up:
Pregnant reality star KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN has reportedly set a $1 million figure on her celebrity wedding and has put out bids for any reality show willing to televise her upcoming Mexican wedding to SCOTT DISICK.
In Touch magazine claims the fun couple will tie the knot at "Girls Gone Wild" producer JOE FRANCIS' Casa Aramara estate near Puerta Vallarta.
The big question: will her marriage last longer than her sister, KIM's, 72-day marriage to KRIS HUMPHRIES?Trolling for publicity:
The horndogs are no doubt happy.
Yesterday, Google-owned YouTube "180-ed" on a decision to ban a video of Sports Illustrated swimsuit model KATE UPTON doing the "Cat Daddy" dance in a bikini.
The video of the busty Upton shimmy-shaking went viral after Upton linked to it from her Twitter account. YouTube pulled the video for a spell on Tuesday, citing its community guidelines, then put it back online.
"With the massive volume of videos on our site, sometimes we make the wrong call," said a YouTube spokesperson. "When it's brought to our attention that a video has been removed mistakenly, we act quickly to reinstate it."
The move was made only after famed photographer TERRY RICHARDSON, who shot the clip, posted the video on Vimeo. (Maiman)Your Body:
If your kids have a tough time getting in an hour of exercise a day, buy them a pedometer.
A new study published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise finds that kids who take 12-thousand steps a day get the same benefits as they would if they’d gotten one hour of moderate to vigorous exercise. Researchers say their findings offer a baseline for physical activity that can be monitored in kids. Until now, children’s physical activity has relied mainly on self-reporting techniques, which are typically unreliable. (Page) -
