The Weather:
The U-S is on track to post its hottest year in history. In fact, the only way we can miss the mark is if the final three months of the year get seriously cold and add up to one of the top 10 coldest quarters in history.
Don't bet on it. A weather.com meteorologist tweeted yesterday that there's only about a seven percent chance that the U-S won't set the hottest-ever mark. Records started being kept in 1895. (Maiman)Bottom feeding:
AMBER PORTWOOD from "Teen Mom" is serving a tough, five-year prison sentence in Indiana, but her three-year-old daughter is under the impression mommy is becoming a big star! Sources tell RadarOnline.com the MTV princess and baby daddy GARY SHIRLEY told their little girl, LEAH, that Amber is in California making a movie and not behind bars. On the bright side, friends swear the troubled 22-year-old has joined the prison choir, works out, is taking parenting classes and desperately trying to turn her life around.
Amber was offered the chance attend drug classes instead of serving time for felony drug possession, but fessed up to the judge that she's a "bad girl" that "couldn't stand" the terms. (Lee)DAX SHEPARD is done with fiancee KRISTIN BELL's extreme couponing. Star magazine reports that Dax thought her obsession with saving was cute but now he wants her to stop acting like a homeless person and going through the neighbor's trash to clip them! (Myers)
Stars and their movies:
Daily Variety says BEYONCE has pulled out of CLINT EASTWOOD's upcoming remake of "A Star Is Born."
The excuse: her schedule is just too packed, and there's no start date yet, since Clint hasn't gotten a guy to play the male lead.
KRIS KRISTOFFERSON and BARBRA STREISAND starred in the 1976 film; JUDY GARLAND and JAMES MASON were in the 1954 version.
At one point, there was talk of various stars being up for the role, including LEONARDO DiCAPRIO, TOM CRUISE, CHRISTIAN BALE, and JOHNNY DEPP. There is a rumor that BRADLEY COOPER may still be considering the role, but his schedule is jammed --he's currently filming "The Hangover III" and has other commitments as well after that is wrapped.Grace notes:
JACK OSBOURNE: filmmaker, married man, superhero! OZZY's son tied the knot on Sunday in Hawaii with fiancee LISA STELLY. While they were hanging out on the beach, Jack spotted a lady having some trouble in the water, so he and a buddy swam out to save her. The woman actually had a heart attack and paramedics said she would have died if Jack wasn't there. She's recovering at a hospital in stable condition. (Marino)
Computers, and other techno-geek-a-zoid crap:
Hackers are going after fans of the internet communications platform Skype. According to BBC News, hackers are distributing a worm that locks PC users out of their machines.
Internet security firm Sophos says the worm is a variant of the Dorkbot worm, which has made its way through social media platforms. Once the worm infects a computer, it sends out the message "lol" to people on the user's contact list. Recipients who think the message is from someone they know click the link, thereby downloading the malware.
Skype recommends users download the newest version of the software and apply the update security features on your computer. It's also a good idea not to follow any links that look strange or are unexpected, even if they come from someone you know. (Page) -
