Did Comcast really ask a Sandy evacuee for her cable box back?:
Blogger SETH CLIFFORD gave the details of his parents woes on his personal website. His family's Mantoloking, NJ, beach bungalow was swallowed up by the storm, but their main home was still standing, surrounded by gas leaks which makes it completely inaccessible.
Mrs Clifford called to cancel the house's cable service, given that her house might explode, but she hit a snag when Comcast told her she would have to return her cable box. How could she do that if she couldn't even get to her house?
A Comcast employee and a supervisor offered their sympathies, but company policy required that she would have to return the box.
The Consumerist website made some noise and reached out to Comcast, which issued a statement:
"We have already reached out to apologize for adding to his parents' difficulties and to ask for his parents' contact information so we can call to personally apologize and assure them that we are handling the equipment without the need for them to do anything further. Please know we are working with our teams to ensure we handle all customer calls on a case-by-case basis with sensitivity to the devastating effects Hurricane Sandy had on so many of our local communities and residents. Again, we are of course notating his parents' account to ensure they are not charged for equipment they can't return." (Maiman)Grace notes:
Tonight, NBC will air an all-star benefit concert special to help out folks affected by Hurricane Sandy. You'll also be able to see it on HBO, Bravo, CNBC, E!, G4, MSNBC, Style, SyFy, USA, and streamed at NBC.com. "Coming Together" has a lineup that includes BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and the E STREET BAND, JON BON JOVI, CHRISTINA AGUILERA, STING and BILLY JOEL. MATT LAUER will host along with BRIAN WILLIAMS and JIMMY FALLON. All the money pledged during the telethon will go to the American Red Cross.
FYI: During Springsteen's Wednesday night concert in Rochester, New York, he dedicated "My City Of Ruins" to the Jersey Shore where he grew up. That area was devastated by Hurricane Sandy. (Marino)Trash talk and satellite dish:
The celebrity gossip website Bossip has ranked the chests of famous celebrities ("Racks On Racks On Racks: Bra Sizes Of The Rich And Famous") to find out who's the most well-endowed. While we (of course) would never stoop so low as to wonder about that kind of thing, we know that there are those in the audience who want a definitive answer. However, the website only ranked ten celebrities (apparently unable to find details on others).
As you might expect, "Modern Family" star SOFIA VERGARA topped the list with an impressive 36DD bra size, almost matched by TYRA BANKS' ample 34DD assets. The rest of the list, from largest to smallest:
--Sofia Vergara: 36DD
--Tyra Banks: 34DD
--Kim Kardashian: 36D
--Beyonce: 36D
--Kate Upton: 34D
--Katy Perry: 32D
--Nicole Scherzinger: 36C
--Nicki Minaj: 34C
--Jennifer Lopez: 34B
--Rihanna: 34BMovies opening today:
Hollywood insiders (i.e., the various publications) believe "Wreck-It Ralph" will top the weekend box office, given that it'll be out in 36-hundred theatres.
DENZEL WASHINGTON's film, "Flight," on the other hand, only will be in around half that. All three films have received strong reviews, but "Wreck-It Ralph" cost $165 million to produce, while "Flight" cost just $30 million and "Iron Fists" just $15 mil.U-S cities with the most men:
