Broadcast, cable and video news:
Turns out that YouTube video of the girl who set herself on fire twerkingwasn't real after all.
Last night, JIMMY KIMMEL interviewed the girl, who revealed the fact that she was a Hollywood stunt woman and she and Jimmy played the "director's cut" of the video, which shows Jimmy walking into the room and putting the fire out with a hand-held fire-extinguisher. Find last night's interview HERE.TINA FEY fans can rejoice in the knowledge that their lady hero will be hosting the first episode of "Saturday Night Live's" 39th season. It will be Fey's fourth appearance since she left the show as a regular cast member. The show, which cranks up on Sept. 28, will have ARCADE FIRE as the musical guest. Also:
--MILEY CYRUS will host and be the musical guest for the Oct 05 show.
--BRUCE WILLIS will host with KATY PERRY as the musical guest on Oct 12.
No word yet on the rumor that LADY GAGA is could also return to SNL as musical guest and possibly as host.
SNL has also picked up five new cast members who'll make their debut since BILL HADER, FRED ARMISEN and JASON SUDEIKIS left and SETH MEYERS will be out the door later on this fall. (Maiman)ELTON JOHN
will make his first appearance on the Emmy Awards later this month. Since the HBO movie about LIBERACE, "Behind The Candleabra" scored 15 nominations, Elton will pay tribute to the late entertainer on the show which airs September 22nd, like from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Liberace was a huge inspiration for Elton, professionally and personally. Elton lives openly with his husband, DAVID FURNISH and their children. Liberace could never do that back in the day. And onstage, Elton's showmanship owes a lot to Liberace's glory days in Las Vegas. Elton's latest album, produced by T BONE BURNETT, will be released Sep 24. (Marino)
Morons on Parade:
A decal made for truck tailgates is causing controversy in Texas.
The sticker in question makes it look like a woman is tied up in the back of the user's pickup truck. BRAD KOLB's company Hornet Signs created the decal. But, when one of his employees drove home with it on his truck, a motorist called police to report a kidnapped woman. Another passerby said, "Abduction or any violence against women is not funny or cute."
Kolb says the decal was just an experiment to see what kind of reaction they would get. No word on whether he plans to keep manufacturing it. (Still)Happiest countries in the world:
According to the annual World Happiness Report, the happiest nations on Earth are Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Sweden. Canada is sixth and the USA ranks 17th on the survey.
