What's Poppin':
Having a baby is more complicated than ever. There's clucking and cooing over onesies at a shindig for the mama-to-be, couples get-togethers, gender reveal parties and now? Grandma showers! Yep, SHANNON GUYTON from TheBump.com tells ABC News that grandparents are a lot more involved these days, often need their "own set of gear" and these are "a way to celebrate one of life's most exciting events."
Unfortunately, guests may not be on-board with the sweet, but expensive, idea. Some people think it could be horribly awkward considering there are at least two grandmothers and asking friends and family to buy more than one gift is just plain rude. (Lee)Trash talk and satellite dish:
CHANTEL JEFFRIES isn't one to let opportunity pass her by. Sources tell the NY Post's Page Six gossip column she attempted to sell the inside scoop on JUSTIN BIEBER's arrest to "Good Morning America," "Today," "Inside Edition" and a few assorted magazines for a mere $20-thousand dollars. Word is the networks refused to pony up the cash and she had a change of heart after spending a romantic weekend with "The Bieb" in Panama. (Lee)
Fashion Emergency:
Even though PHARRELL WILLIAMS' Dudley Do-Right hat was ridiculed during the Grammys, it turns out people actually want to buy it. After the hat was identified as an item from VIVIENNE WESTWOOD'S 1982 collection, the website selling it exclusively for her World's End shop crashed due to high traffic. New York magazine's The Cut says because of the high demand, the hat will be stocked at Westwood's only U-S based boutique in West Hollywood. A limited-edition run of the hat will be sold beginning mid-February. Color choices are black and brown and will sell for $180 dollars. (Bartha)
Broadcast, cable and video news:
E! Online says MILEY CYRUS' upcoming "Unplugged" special on MTV will feature MADONNA as a guest performer, doing a song together. It says several unnamed "sources" watched the pair rehearsing in Hollywood yesterday.
CHAD SMITH of RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS proved that "journalists" will print anything a celebrity says as truth without doing research on it first. Artisan News Service was totally fished in by Chad. He was asked what the Chili Peppers will be playing during their guest spot at the Super Bowl on Sunday. With a straight face, Chad said, "We're doing Led Zeppelin's live version of 'Dazed and Confused'." The interviewer accepted it and filed the story. Clearly, Chad was totally goofing! The live version of "Dazed and Confused" is 26 minutes long!!! At best, the Peppers will get five of BRUNO MARS' 15 minutes. (Marino)
