Two little blue lines:
KELSEY GRAMMER is going back on diaper duty at the tender age of 59. Sources tell Us Weekly that his wife KAYTE is expecting their second child together and hid her baby bump under a black dress at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party last weekend. If you're keeping track at home, the "Frasier" star has a lot of birthdays to remember --he's the father of 30-year-old SPENCER, 22-year-old GREER, 12-year-old MASON, nine-year-old JUDE and 19-month-old FAITH. (Lee)
Sucking the life out of the wire services:
DAPHNE OZ and hubby JOHN JOVANOVIC have finally given their baby girl a name. People magazine reports the newborn princess will be called PHILOMENA BIJOU JOVANOVICH and the proud mama has already shown off her picture on "The Chew." (Lee)
The Hollywood rumor mill:
Two Hollywood trades yesterday fueled whispers that STEVEN SPIELBERG is interested in doing a remake of "West Side Story."
Buried within a Hollywood Reporter about the director is this sentence: "Another project said to interest Spielberg is an updated West Side Story."
Meanwhile, Deadline.com reports: "Fox has unlocked that movie title for a remake specifically because Steven Spielberg is interested in making it."
Don't get your gang clothes out of storage yet. Deadline notes that "Spielberg hasn't done anything more than register his interest." This is mainly coming up because DreamWorks co-chairman and CEO STACEY SNIDER is being wooed by Fox, which owns the rights to "West Side Story." (Maiman)"American Hustle" may have been shut out of the Oscars,' biggest awards, but disco dresses inspired by the movie are another look that will be everywhere this spring. Thanks to the movie's costume designer MICHAEL WILKINSON (who did snag the Oscar for Best Costume Design), SheFinds.com says designers like Givenchy, Gucci and Reem Acra are also offering disco-era-worthy gowns in their spring collections. That includes plenty of super-deep-v-neck gowns, sequins and all things metallic and shiny.
One word of advice: make sure you invest in some double-sided fashion tape if you try this trend. There's high probability of flashing and other wardrobe malfunctions. (Bartha)Grace notes:
RAY PARKER JR will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. It's star number 2,518, if you're keeping score, and you'll find it in front of 7065 Hollywood Boulevard. Ray will be there, obviously, and he'll do an acoustic medley of his hits. BILL WITHERS and Motown songwriter/producer BRIAN HOLLAND will say nice things about Ray. If you can't be there, check out the live stream of the ceremony starting at 11:30am Pacific Time at walkoffame.com. (Marino)
Idiots or Insane:
Two artists in Brooklyn, New York, are spending 10 days living, eating, and sleeping on a giant hamster wheel.
WARD SHELLEY and ALEX SCHWEDER say they're doing it to prove a point: "We all have to work together to get through the daily grind." The pair have to be extremely careful so they don't fall off or cause the other to fall from the 25-foot tall wheel. They stay perched on opposite ends, 180-degrees from each other, and must carefully coordinate each movement. Schweder says, "It's an exploration of trust between two people." (Still) -
