I'm a Poll Man:
For the first time, the Washington Post-ABC News poll has found more Americans support Obamacare than oppose it.
The poll, released Monday (the day of the law's enrollment deadline), found 49 percent of Americans support the law and 48 percent oppose it. It was the first time, dating back to August 2009, that support outweighed opposition in the poll.
Support among Democrats jumped from 65 percent in January to 76 percent in the new poll. Independents (44 percent support; 54 percent oppose; and Republicans (20 percent support; 78 percent) was more stable, according to the poll. Surprisingly, the poll found a significant shift in support for the law among conservatives, with 36 percent of them backing it now compared to 17 percent in November.
On Republican efforts to replace Obamacare, Americans were also narrowly split: 47 percent support those efforts, and 49 percent oppose them. (Maiman)Sucking the life out of the wire services:
KIM KARDASHIAN got photobombed by an elephant. While taking a bikini selfie in Thailand on Friday, Us Weekly says an elephant snuck up behind her and blew air out of its trunk and onto Kim as she was setting up her shot. Kim wasn't hurt, but she panicked and ran away from the blast. (Bartha)
Another Chalk Outline:
A pair of 63-year-old identical twins were found dead sitting in recliners in their Tennessee home.
Cops in Chattanooga say locals hadn't seen or heard from identical twins ANDREW and ANTHONY JOHNSON in almost two-years. Neighbors just assumed the men stayed indoors a lot because of bad health. Nobody suspected there was a problem because their yard was kept up and the mail wasn't overflowing in their mailbox. Police are investigating. (Still)The Reel Deal:
Famed actress MERYL STREEP will be plying a rock-and-roll mama in upcoming JONATHAN DEMME film, "Ricki and the Flash."
The Hollywood Reporter says the spec script was written by Oscar-winner DIABLO CODY ("Juno") and is about a mom who's a grocery store checkout lady by day and plays guitar with a hard-rock band at night.
Demme, who's known for "Silence of the Lambs" and "Philadelphia," has also done music videos for BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, THE PRETENDERS and NEIL YOUNG, and is likely the perfect pick to direct the film.Grace notes:
LADY GAGA will perform tonight on the "Late Show With David Letterman." She's been on the show before, but only for an interview. Gaga is in the middle of her sold-out seven show run at Roseland, which is literally across the street from the Ed Sullivan Theater where Dave does his show. In fact, she can go out one of the side doors of Roseland, cross the street and get right into the backstage entrance. Gaga's April 7th concert will be the final performance ever at Roseland, which is closing its doors forever. (Marino)
