Pampers patrol:
LIL' KIM now has a lil' girl. Entertainment Tonight says the rapper gave birth to ROYAL REIGN (yup, that's the kid's name) yesterday at a hospital in Hackensack, New Jersey. Royal's father is probably rapper MR. PAPERS, but Kim has not confirmed that yet. Kim showed off her baby bump in February during New York Fashion Week. This is her first child. (Marino)
The President at play:
As expected, PRESIDENT OBAMA signed an executive order yesterday that should eventually allow an additional five-million borrowers to cap monthly student loan repayments at 10-percent of their income and forgive any unpaid debt after 20 years. That move makes those borrowers eligible for the administration's "Pay As You Earn" program by expanding on a law enacted in 2010 that capped repayments for newer loans, but excluded borrowers who took out loans before October 2007, or who stopped borrowing by October 2011.
In an example provided by the White House, a 2009 college graduate earning $39-thousand dollars a year but carrying $26,500-dollars in student loan debt, would see his-or-her monthly repayments reduced by $126-dollars per month and $15-hundred dollars a year compared, to the standard repayment plan. (Pacelli)Trolling for publicity:
It's tough to believe, but the legendary TONY BENNETT once had a serious drug problem. The crooner tells the National Enquirer that he overdosed in a bathtub back in 1979, but was truly saved when the late LENNY BRUCE's manager told him he "sinned against his talent with his drug habit." Tony realized he had a huge gift, feared he'd lose everything and quit cold turkey the same day. (Lee)
Too cool for school:
A high school in Long Island, New York, may have set a record for the most twins graduating at the same time.
John F. Kennedy High School boasts nine pairs of twins and one set of triplets in this year's senior class. Fellow student DENIZ HARNED probably said it best when he said, "It's, like, so weird to walk around and you see so many twins." Principal JAMES MURRAY says the situation is very unique and having so many twins makes it "a special year." (Still)The Reel Deal:
CHARLES S. DUTTON and MIKE EPPS will be joining QUEEN LATIFAH in "Bessie," the HBO film being made about the life of blues singer BESSIE SMITH.
Deadline reports Dutton will play WILLIAM "Pa" RAINEY, the husband of MA RAINEY (played by MO'NIQUE). Mike Epps will play Richard Morgan, a bootlegger and romantic interest to Bessie Smith. -
