Anniversaries:
"American Idol" is now 12 years old. It debuted June 11, 2002. KELLY CLARKSON was the first winner.
--PAUL McCARTNEY married fiancé HEATHER MILLS at Ireland's Castle Leslie on this date in 2002. He never should've let her get a foot in the door. Har!
--51 years ago today --remember that scene from the movie "Forrest Gump," where then-Alabama Gov GEORGE WALLACE stood in front of a schoolhouse, defying a federal order to allow two African-Americans to enroll at the University of Alabama? In the scene, we see him giving in as troops escort the two students into the building. Happened on this day in 1963.Guilty Pleasures:
No winner in Saturday night's drawing for the Powerball Lottery. That means tonight's drawing is valued at $257 million ($151.9 million cash value). Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington, DC and the U-S Virgin Islands. Chances of winning the grand prize (all five numbers plus the powerball) are 1 in 175.2 million.
Like you really care:
NICK LACHEY's son, CAMDEN, is a chip off the old block. The proud papa tells Us Weekly that the toddler is "fearless," loves living in New York and positively mesmerized by fire trucks and taxi cabs. The host of "The Sing-Off" is a hands-on daddy that prides himself on making breakfast for the little guy every day and singing him to sleep.
Mushy phone starter: What's your best memory of dear old dad? If he's gone, what do you miss? (Lee)On, off and way-off Broadway:
NATHAN LANE and MATTHEW BRODERICK are getting back together on Broadway.
Deadline reports they'll be starring in a revival of TERRENCE McNALLY's 1982 comedy, "It's Only A Play" along with STOCKARD CHANNING, F. MURRAY ABRAHAM and MEGAN MULLALLY.
The original play ran both off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway, but the new production will mark its Broadway debut.Grace notes:
And, that's all folks, for MORRISSEY. He has now cancelled the rest of the shows on his U.S. tour. That respiratory infection he caught in Miami just won't go away, so Morrissey has scrapped the scheduled concerts, and those that were rescheduled. That means no Barclays Center show in Brooklyn, New York, with special guest, Sir CLIFF RICHARD! Thankfully, Morrissey's lung butter won't prevent the release of his new album, "World Peace Is None Of Your Business" on July 15th. (Marino)
