He's dead, Jim:
KEN WEATHERWAX, who played Pugsley on "The Addams Family," died in his sleep on Sunday morning, Dec 07 at his home in California. He was 59 years old.
TMZ reports Ken had a heart attack.
Ken played Pugsley from 1964-66 on the show; interestingly, his brother, Joey, reportedly played Porky on the first three seasons of "Lassie" (under the name Donald Keeler). With Ken's death, the only regular cast members from "The Addams Family" that are still living are 84-year-old JOHN ASTIN (Gomez), 56-year-old LISA LORING (Wednesday), and 77-year-old FELIX SILLA (Cousin Itt). Not pregnant:
Don't waste your precious time knitting GEORGE CLOONEY and company any baby booties --his wife, AMAL, ain't eating for two. The new bride got the rumor mill buzzing after she wore a loose dress and cradled her tummy while out with friends last Saturday, but a rep for the couple says she is simply "not pregnant." (Lee)
On, off and way-off Broadway:
"Pretty Woman, The Musical" is in the works. Deadline.com says GARRY MARSHALL who directed the 1990 movie that starred JULIA ROBERTS is putting it all together with Disney. He said Disney insisted that the lead female character be a model instead of a prostitute, but Garry said no way. So, now HE's officially listed as one of the producers and Disney is just putting up the money. Garry also said the show still needs about a year's worth of work before it's ready. (Marino)
Fashion Emergency:
KATE MIDDLETON and PRINCE WILLIAM attended the Brooklyn Nets game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in New York City last night. The British Royal Couple just happened to be sharing the same arena space as American music royalty BEYONCE and JAY-Z. But the two famous couples didn't sit together. They each sat on opposing side courtside seats. (Americans sitting opposite of the British... how very appropriate!)
Highlights from that game --all of which have absolutely nothing to do with the game:
--The Duchess of Cambridge wore a chic grey Tory Burch jacket over black skinny jeans and matching pumps. The Bey of Yonce went with a casual with a white and black print blouse, a black skirt and straight locks with a middle part.
--Before taking their seats, William and Kate (awkwardly) posed with a basketball and NBA commissioner ADAM SILVER.
--During a break in the game, "Jay and Bey" walked over to meet His Royal Highness and Her Royal Kateness.
--Prince William had zero clues about the game he was watching. At a wildlife reception held earlier in the day, the Prince told the audience that he was "off to shoot some hoops now or whatever it is the Americans call it."
--The final score... The Cavs beat the Nets 110-88. But the visiting Royals won the celebrity face-off. (Bartha)Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
TAYLOR SWIFT could be namedTime magazine's Person of the Year for 2014. Time's editor, NANCY GIBBS was on NBC's "Today" show yesterday and revealed that Taylor is on the short list for the big honor. She does have some stiff competition: TIM COOK, CEO of Apple Inc.; ROGER GOODELL, commissioner of the NFL; Russian President VLADIMIR PUTIN; the Ebola caregivers; the Ferguson protestors; President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region MASOUD BARZANI; and JACK MA, founder of the Alibaba Group. (Marino)
Weird science:
Public restrooms are no germier than your home, according to a new study. University of Chicago researchers tracked bacteria and viruses in four public restrooms, and most came from human skin and outdoor environments. The kind of illness-causing bacteria that you'd think would be all over a public restroom only made up 15 percent of the restrooms' total bacterial population. (Bartha)
