Trade Secrets:
Eeeeeeeee!!! Here's some bizarre trivia: one of the most well-known advertising taglines ever created was inspired by a death-row inmate!
"Just Do It" -- Nike's world-famous slogan created back in 1988 was actually inspired by the 1977 execution of GARY GILMORE.
DAN WIEDEN is the co-founder of Wieden+Kennedy advertising and revealed the brain-storm at a recent Design Indaba conference in Cape Town (South Africa): "I was recalling a man in Portland. He grew up in Portland, and ran around doing criminal acts in the country, and was in Utah where he murdered a man and a woman, and was sent to jail and put before a firing squad."
FYI: Gilmore's final words before execution were reportedly "Let's do it," which Wieden modified. (Kaye)Trash talk and satellite dish:
Warning: note sexual content.
The creepiest story of the day goes to MICHAEL PHELPS and his alleged encounter with a dominatrix named KIM PETRO! The naughty girl reveals to the National Enquirer that the history-making Olympian responded to an ad for a "super busty fetish provider" in February of 2013 and met her at a hotel wearing skimpy women's underwear. The two smoked pot together, enjoyed some kinky action and he even had a string tied around his privates!
Miss Petro passed a lie detector test for the tabloid and was paid a generous "donation" of $900 by the athlete. (Lee)Looking for love in all the wrong places:
A Catholic priest from Bridgeport, Connecticut, is asking for leniency in his sentencing next week for dealing meth, laundering money through a sex shop and lewd acts with "odd-looking men" while he was dressed as a woman. (seriously you can't make this stuff up.)
Monsignor Kevin Wallin, aka Monsignor Meth, is using his 30 years of charitable service in his plea along with 80 letters from fellow clergy. He's facing 10 to 11 years in prison but is asking for four and 500 hours community service instead. (Myers)Stars and their movies:
There's another "Little Women" movie coming.
Former Sony Pictures head AMY PASCAL will be producing the reboot of the LOUISA MAY ALCOTT classic about four sisters coming of age.
There have been "Little Women" movies produced in 1918, 1933, 1949, and 1994 as well as TV series in 1958, mini-series in 1970 and 1978, and a TV movie in 1958.
The most recent movie, in 1994, starred WINONA RYDER, KIRSTEN DUNST, CLAIRE DANES and TRINI ALVARADO as the girls and SUSAN SARANDON as their mother.Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
