On diaper patrol:
Congrats to "Jurassic Park" and "Independence Day" star JEFF GOLDBLUM, whose wife, EMILIE LIVINGSTON, gave birth to his first child --CHARLIE OCEAN GOLDBLUM-- on Independence Day, and posted the news on his new Facebook page yesterday. His latest film, "Independence Day: Resurgence," which also stars LIAM HEMSWORTH of "The Hunger Games," will be out in June.
Posturing, Posing and Press Releases:
In her first major one-on-one interview yesterday, HILLARY CLINTON defended her use of a personal e-mail account while at the State Department. She told CNN, "Everything I did was permitted... There was no law, no regulation, there was nothing that did not give me the full authority to decide how I was going to communicate."
She added, "This is being blown up with no basis in law or in fact, that's fine, I get it... This is being in effect used by the Republicans in Congress. OK. But I want people to understand what the truth is, and the truth is everything I did was permitted and I went above and beyond... I turned over everything I was obligated to turn over and then I moved on."
Asked about DONALD TRUMP's comments on immigration, she said, "I'm very disappointed in those comments, and I feel very bad and very disappointed with him and with the Republican Party for not responding immediately and saying, 'Enough, stop.'" (Pacelli)Bad luck:
What's another name for selfie stick? Answer: a lightning rod.
Two men were killed in Wales after one of them held up a selfie-stick during a lightning storm. The men were trekking through a mountainous national park when the storm hit. Two other men were killed by lightning in another area of the park right around the same time. But, it's unclear whether they were also snapping selfies.
In case you live in a cave and don't know what a selfie stick is, it's an extendable arm that allows people to take smartphone pictures of themselves. (Still)Women's World Cup:
As reported here yesterday, the 5-2 win by our World Champion Women's National Team was the most-watched soccer match ever seen here in the USA (26.7 million viewers tuned in; 25.4 on FOX; 1.3 million on Telemundo). In comparison, the totals also exceeded the ratings for the recent NBA Finals and for last year's World Series game 7. But --this week's match fell short of the 2015 NCAA men's basketball final by a little more than a half-million viewers.
In terms of money earned, the women take home around $2-million compared to $9-million by the men that lost in the quarterfinals last year; the German men received $35-million for winning their tournament. (Lane)Your Body:
It's summer, which means everyone is looking to become bronze and beautiful--or are they?
Indoor tanning rates have dropped among adults from five-point-five percent in 2010 to four-point-two percent three years later.
College graduates and cancer survivors alike had a forty-five percent lower chance of going for an indoor tan, reported Allure magazine.
Researchers believe that the decrease in indoor tanning is due to people (finally) learning how it can hurt you. (AB) -
