Births:
It happened early --KANYE WEST and KIM KARDASHIAN have welcomed a new son, about three weeks ahead of her due date. The fun couple welcomed a baby boy on Saturday morning. While Kim announced the birth on her website, there's been no word on a name for the tyke. However, People magazine says a source at the hospital told them Kim was going to use her late father's name --ROBERT-- for the child's middle name. Meanwhile, British betting site Paddy Power.com has the odds for potential names for the baby, including
--Easton (at 5/2, the number one choice)
--South (6/1)
--Robert (7/1)
--Kanye and East, both (8/1)
--Kennedy, King, Winter, John and Kelly, all (12/1)
--Bruce and Kian, both (16/1)
--Jesus, Atlanta, Jay and Go (get it --Go West???), each 20/1
--Kyle, North by North, Wild, Krishna and Eastern, each (25/1)
and some others, including Kimye or Barack (each 66/1), Caitlyn (100/1) and Bullet Proof, 250/1.
Editor's note: Caitlyn... maybe not now, but could take after Grandpa... Grandma... eventually. (Kaye)He's dead, Jim:
Actor ROBERT LOGGIA, best known for playing gangsters in movies including "Scarface," "Prizzi's Honor" and "The Sopranos" on TV. He also was the guy who danced on the piano at F-A-O Schwartz along with TOM HANKS in the movie, "Big," and appeared in more than 200 other movies and various TV shows during a remarkable career which began in 1956. FYI: Here's a cut from "Family Guy" with Loggia. Also taking a last bow:
HOLLY WOODLAWN, who was the inspiration for LOU REED's song, "Walk on the Wild Side," died Sunday of cancer at 69. The Los Angeles transgender actress appeared in several underground films including "Trash" and "Women in Revolt" and became one of ANDY WARHOL's drag queen "superstars" after hitch-hiking from Miami to New York City.
Today's police blotter:
A woman was stabbed at a Florida art exhibit but witnesses thought it was performance art.
It happened last Friday during the Art Basel at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Suspect SIYUAN ZHAO had allegedly been following the unnamed victim around for some time. When she confronted him, police say he pulled out an X-Acto knife and attacked her. At first, patrons thought it was part of the exhibit. But, someone called police and Zhao was taken into custody. The woman was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital and is expected to survive. (Still)Health and Medical Briefs:
A new small study from Penn State University has found that people with bipolar disorder have lower levels of omega-3 fatty acids that can cross the blood-brain barrier. Omega-3 fatty acids play an important role in communication between brain cells. Fatty acids are a major player in the immune and inflammatory systems. Foods like fish, vegetable oils, nuts, flax seeds and flaxseed oil and leafy vegetables, are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. But U.S. News and World Report says the researchers plan to look at the effect of diet on people with bipolar disorder. (Bartha)
