Christmas Office Parties:
Yes, it's THAT time again, and Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc, offers up some guidelines for partygoers:
--Arrive early: This could be your best chance to talk with senior executives while things are still quiet.
--Work the room: Use the occasion to meet people in other departments -- you never know who can help your career.
--Be friendly, but not too friendly: The company party is not the place to try out your latest pick-up lines. Such behavior could easily be seen as sexual harassment.
--Avoid talking business: This is not the right time to approach your boss with a new business idea. Save that for Monday morning.
Phoner: Are you going? Or is your company too cheap to throw a party?
Also, got a good horror story about you or one of your co-workers? The biggest screw-up by you or someone else. Anyone ever get fired afterwards for their behavior at one of these parties?Trash talk and satellite dish:
KIM KARDASHIAN didn't sleep on your average white cotton hospital sheets after giving birth to her newborn son. RadarOnline.com reports the reality darling stayed in a "deluxe maternity suite" with hubby KANYE WEST, received a ton of flowers, gift baskets and other goodies and sources say everything "went according to plan."
If you're keeping track at home, SAINT WEST was the 4,733rd most popular in the United States last year with just 32 baby boys who were given the unique moniker. (Lee)Crooks too stupid to live:
Robbery 101: Don't wear a shirt with your name on to rob a place that you used to work.
JOSHUA JORDING of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, broke into the Veterans Cab Company where he used to work and it was caught on surveillance video. Plain as day, right there on his shirt was his name, "Josh."
Police went to his home and found the shirt along with two guns, two smartphones, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with burglary, theft and other charges. (Myers)Pilot projects:
SLY STALLONE will not be appearing on the new "Rambo: New Blood" TV series.
Sly told Deadline he wished everybody well in the reboot of the franchise, but he's decided not to be a part of it "in any way at all," according to a spokesman. "I wish the others well with the project" he said.
The FOX series was reportedly going to be about Rambo's relationship with his son. But now that Sly has decided not to be a part of the show, that makes it a tough sell for people who are expecting at least occasional glimpses of Sly as the elder Rambo.Health and Medical Briefs:
Living together can provide women with a boost to their emotional health, while men's well-being hinges on tying the knot. After analyzing data from 87-hundred Americans over a 10-year period, WebMD.com says young single women were found to have a similar increase in emotional health whether they moved in with someone or got married for the first time. For men, marriage seemed to be the key to improving their emotional health.
When it came to finding love the second time around, the Ohio State University researchers said both men and women had similar improvements in emotional health when they moved in with someone or got married. (Bartha) -
