Trolling for publicity:
KANYE WEST's money problems could soon be a thing of the past thanks to the good folks in the City of Brotherly Love. TMZ.com reports the Philadelphia Police Department mentioned the rapper in a Tweet saying they're hiring, offer a starting salary of "$47,920" and promise the hip-hopper could be (wait for it...) "debt-free by the year 3122!" No word if he'll take them up on the golden opportunity. (Lee)
Another day, another new figure for KIRSTIE ALLEY. Yep, the "Cheers" staple has slimmed down once again and showed off her amazing physique at a Jenny Craig event yesterday in New York. The actress reunited with the weight loss company in 2014 after a seven-year break where she gained 30-pounds! This time, she dropped a whopping 50-pounds, her goal is to maintain the weight loss and credits her success to listening to company counselors. (Lee)
Whistleblowing:
Warning --note risque content:
JOHN McAFEE, the guy whose name is synonymous with anti-virus software for computers, offered his help yesterday in the controversy to get at the data on the iPhone of one of the suspects in December's mass shooting in San Bernardino, California.
In an article published in the Business Insider yesterday, McAfee said he'd help the FBI hack into the iPhone software after Apple head TIM COOK refused to develop software to break into their product.
McAfee also took time to slam the FBI, asking why the best hackers on the planet won't work for the FBI and answering his own question, saying "Because the FBI will not hire anyone with a 24-inch purple mohawk, 10-gauge ear piercings, and a tattooed face who demands to smoke weed while working and won't work for less than a half-million dollars a year. But you bet your ass that the Chinese and Russians are hiring similar people with similar demands and have been for many years. It's why we are decades behind in the cyber race."
He claimed that his staff could crack the iPhone encryption in three weeks.Fashion Emergency:
Fashion red alert! Designers are trying to make thick socks with sandals a thing. Fashionista.com says several designers sent their models down the New York Fashion Week runways doing the big fashion don't. Tommy Hilfiger's sandals were paired with some frilly socks. A.P.C. paired their sandals with "no nonsense thick, white socks." And 3.1 Phillip Lim styled their metallic sandals with thick, dark embellished orange socks. (Bartha)
Broadcast, cable and video news:
The annual Daytona 500 is this Sunday, and you could be watching through a pair of virtual reality goggles, making it seem like you're right there on the track.
Deadline reports Fox Sports has partnered with NextVR to offer a streamed, virtual reality experience --provided you've got a Samsung Gear VR headset.
Otherwise, you'll be just like the rest of us, watching the race on your TV. -
