Easter aftermath:
Just in case you didn't get your fill of Easter candy over the weekend, here's a video for you.
The viral clip shows competitive eater MATT STONIE downing 200 marshmallow peeps in around 14-minutes. Stonie --known on YouTube as MEGATOAD-- doubled his previous record and swallowed 56-hundred calories in the process. That's nearly 14-hundred grams of sugar in one setting. About halfway through the challenge, Stonie comments, "My tongue is so saturated with sugar!"
His previous eating stunts include wolfing a five-pound burrito, downing 182 strips of bacon, and gulping down seven McDonald's Shamrock Shakes in a row. (Still)Top talkables of the day:
The hottest new internet "star" is cashing in on his newfound fame. KENNETH "Pawpaw" HARMON sent the Twitterverse into a tailspin this month after his granddaughter KELSEY showed off a photo of the 66-year-old saying he made 12 burgers for 6 grandkids and "I'm the only one who showed." "Sad Grandpa's" shot went viral, got 181,000 retweets and he decided to have a cookout at his Oklahoma home. Buzzfeed.com reports burgers cost two-bucks, fans could pick up tee-shirts, the guest of honor posed for selfies and 100 people were in line before he hit the grill at 11-a.m. Saturday. (Lee)
State politics:
The American Civil Liberties Union will announce today that it's filing a federal lawsuit, responding to a controversial North Carolina law that opponents say is discriminatory to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. That law prohibits people from using bathrooms that don't match their biological sex and also bans municipalities from creating their own antidiscrimination policies.
That statewide bill came in response to a measure passed by the city of Charlotte last month, providing protections to the LGBT community and saying that transgender people could use public bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity. (Pacelli)Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
Forget the rumors that AXL ROSE is joining AC/DC. GUNS N' ROSES just announced a 21-city tour of North America. No word on what cities, when or where the shows will be, but all of that info is coming soon. A video went out on Friday with the GNR hit "Patience" played under the images, probably to quiet the talk that Axl would be filling in for AC/DC frontman BRIAN JOHNSON for the postponed 10 dates on that band's tour because of Brian's alleged massive hearing loss. Meanwhile, Guns N' Roses reunite at the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 8th and 9th, followed by the first Coachella weekend, then Mexico City, then the second Coachella weekend.
Phone starter: Do you think Axl and SLASH will be able to get through the two Vegas shows let along Coachella and then a tour? (Marino) -
