On, off and way-off-Broadway:
The Tony Awards are Sunday night. JAMES CORDEN of "The Late Late Show" will host from the Beacon Theater. Look for 10 live performances from Broadway musicals, presenters including BARBRA STREISAND, and all "Hamilton" all the time. The show is up for 16 awards, the most ever, and will win most if not all of them. The awards air live on CBS at 8pm Eastern, but at 7PM catch "60 Minutes." They are going to run a much longer version of the "Hamilton" segment the newsmagazine show did back on June 12th. (Marino)
Chic Sh*t:
Shoe designer Christian Louboutin is expanding its high-priced beauty collection. First, there was the $50-dollar nail polish, then the $90-dollar lipstick. Now, Racked.com says they are rolling out a new $85 high-shine, lip lacquer. It's being called "Loubilaque," (because that sounds French and expensive) and will be available in eight shades, including its signature Louboutin red. It's packaging includes a jewelry box, a bottle "carved with an intricate mermaid tail" and the bottle is designed to also be worn as a necklace. It hits stores in July.
Editor's note: For $85 dollars, it better be both a lip color and a necklace. And wash my car! (Bartha)Losers in Lockup:
A mail carrier from Queens, New York, has been sentenced to a year of probation.
DANIEL DARBY pleaded guilty to throwing a thousand stamped letters in the trash because he felt "overwhelmed." The 26-year-old told the court he was scared of getting in trouble because he couldn't complete his work. Darby had only been a postal worker for two months. He's been sentenced to a year of probation. (Still)Human Nature:
If a man wants to attract a woman for the long haul, the gift of gab is more important than good looks. That's according to a new joint study by researchers with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Buffalo. CBS News says for women, a man's storytelling ability --especially verbal storytelling-- factored greatly determining if he would be a more appealing long-term match. For men, they thought a woman's ability to tell a good story showed signs of greater intelligence, but that did not translate to the ladies being viewed as a more attractive match. (Bartha)
