On, off and way-off-Broadway:
Broadway's best have teamed up to record a new version of the BURT BACHARACH/HAL DAVID standard, "What The World Needs Now Is Love." It's the theater community's way to honor those who were murdered or wounded in Orlando. All proceeds from the download will go to the LGBT Center of Central Florida. You can purchase the download starting Monday at broadwayrecords.com. (Marino)
Models:
MUHAMMAD ALI's teen grandson just landed a major modeling contract. The Hollywood Reportersays 17-year-old BIAGGIO ALI WALSH just signed with Wilhelmina Models, the same agency representing SHAWN MENDES, DEMI LOVATO and NICK JONAS. The high school senior also inherited his grandfather's athleticism --he's apparently a star athlete on the football field. In an interview with Bleacher Reportlast year, Biaggio said "I think the similarities with me and my grandfather on the field would be speed." The modeling announcement comes more than week after the 74-year-old boxing legend died of respiratory issues complicated by Parkinson's disease. (Bartha)
Broadcast, cable and video news:
JERRY SEINFELD's "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" returns to Crackle today. The season's guests include "Saturday Night Live" producer LORNE MICHAELS, "Last Week Tonight" host JOHN OLIVER, director JUDD APATOW, and stand-up comics MARGARET CHO, JIM GAFFIGAN and J.B. SMOOVE.
Everyday heroes:
A new bride in Pittsburgh saved a life while still in her wedding dress.
Newlywed JULIE STROYNE NIXON had just left her wedding reception Saturday around midnight when she spotted an unconscious woman near the street. So Nixon --who also happens to be a trauma nurse-- went into action. She explains, "I think my nursing instincts took over." Nixon says the woman didn't have a pulse, so she performed CPR on the victim. She regained consciousness and an ambulance arrived to take her to the emergency room.
The victim's current condition is unknown, but it's clear Nixon saved her life that night. Nixon's new husband, ANDREW, praised his bride's heroism. (Still) -
