No winner in last night's drawing for the Mega Millions Lottery. That means Friday night's drawing is valued at $508 million ($357 million cash value). It's still the third highest Mega Millions jackpot ever... the two larger ones were $656 million on Mar 30, 2012 and a $648 million jackpot on Dec 17, 2013. Mega Millions is played in 44 states, Washington DC and the US Virgin Islands. Chances of winning the big prize are one in 258.9 million.
On, off and way-off-Broadway:
STEVE MARTIN's Broadway musical, "Bright Star" didn't do so well, but Steve is already back with a new work for the stage. Playbill.com says "Meteor Shower" is a play that will have its world premiere later this month. Previews begin July 30th at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego, with opening night set for August 7th. Former "Ally McBeal" star GREG GERMANN is in the cast along with JENNA FISCHER from "The Office." (Marino)
Trendspotting:
--Knock knock
--Who's there?
--Orange?
--Orange who?
--Orange is the hottest red carpet look this summer! (Orange you glad I didn't say "Orange is the New Black?" Except that this time it really is.) Racked.com says SELENA GOMEZ, "Empire" actress SERAYAH, KHLOE KARDASHIAN, GIGI HADID and KEKE PALMER are just some of the celebrities making orange a trend, in every shade under the sun... including orange sunsets. (Bartha)Jedi mind tricks:
Almost every twin on Earth will tell you they share an unbreakable bond and SARAH MARIUZ and LEAH RODGERS are no exception.
Peoplemagazine reports the identical 35-year-olds gave birth on the same day last week at the very same time! Leah welcomed REID JOSEPH in Denver, Colorado, and Sarah pushed out little SAMANTHA LYNNE one-hour later in La Jolla, California. The ladies shared daily text message updates through their pregnancies, can't wait to see them grow up together and even had a joint pink-and-blue baby shower. (Lee)Pet Patrol:
A company in England wants to help your dog watch television.
UK-based pet food maker 'Wagg' has designed the world's first dog-friendly remote control. The oversized remote allows pets to watch television and change channels on their own while their owners are away. According to Wagg, 91-percent of pet owners claim to regularly watch television with their pets. (Still) -
