Culture Shock:
You might have missed it: Sunday was the ninth annual "Go Topless Day," and demonstrations were reportedly held in at least 56 cities around the world. GoTopless Day always falls at the Sunday closest to Women's Equality Day (annually on Aug 26), on which American women were given the right to vote back in 1920.
The topless movement asks people to bare their upper bodies in order to protest hypocritical laws that force women to cover their breasts while men can walk around with no shirts. If you'd like to keep (ahem!) abreast of the movement, there's more about the holiday at the website GoTopless.org. You're welcome.Idle gossip & unconfirmed rumors:
DEMI LOVATO is done crying lonely tears over WILMER VALDERRAMA. TMZ.com reports the pop tart is hot and heavy with former UFC fighter LUKE ROCKHOLD. Word is they met the old-fashioned way --at the gym --and have been sending each other cute little messages on social media. (Lee)
Air Rage:
DUI's are bad, FUI's are worse. Two pilots at Glasgow Airport in Scotland were taken off their flight and arrested for being under the influence of alcohol as they were about to fly to New York. The United Airlines pilots, who are 35 and 45 respectively, have been removed from their jobs pending a further investigation. The plane had 141 passengers on board and eventually took off with a new flight crew. (Myers)
Broadcast, cable and video news:
LOU PEARLMAN hasn't even been dead a week and already the Hollywood Reporter says there's a TV movie on his life in the works.
As you know, Lou was the guy behind the boy bands 'NSYNC and BACKSTREET BOYS, after which he was convicted of running a $300 million Ponzi scheme and was serving out a 25-year sentence behind bars. The story will reportedly be based on a story published by the New Yorkermagazine about Lou's life.Survivor: real life:
Don't mess with daddy's little girl! MIKE CARD of England went nuts when he found his daughter and a boy fooling around in the car that dad got her. To prove a point, he took a construction digger to the custom Audi A4 that she drove showing no mercy on her house of sin on wheels. His son, KAYLOR, videotaped the entire thing, hashtagging "DaddyNotHappy," and can be heard in the video saying, "all I can say is BRANDON ANDERSON won't be in this car anymore!" (Myers)
