Trolling for publicity:
Life has it's perks when your mom's name is KELLY CLARKSON. The original "American Idol" showed off photos of her little girl, RIVER, having a ball at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida where she got to meet Cinderella, Snow White and Tinkerbell. And --in a strange coincidence-- the family's personal guides were named... (wait for it...) Justin and Kelly!
If you don't remember back that far, JUSTIN GUARINI was the runner-up during the first season of the talent competition and they starred in a cheesy, teen flick called "From Justin to Kelly," which received just one, lonely star on IMDb.com. (Lee)Bullying ain't a funny topic, but Olympic gold medalist ALY RAISMAN actually thanked the nasty kids in school that made fun of her big, strong muscles! The champ revealed on Instagram that the fifth-through-ninth grade boys forced her to "learn to love myself and my body" because her ripped arms were considered "weird and gross." The truth is, those limbs actually made her "one of the best gymnasts on the planet" and she believes there's no such thing as a perfect body. (Lee)
Fashion Emergency:
You may have noticed a lot of people wearing safety pins since Election Day. It's not a fashion statement. Here's what that's all about: the safety pin movement started in the U.S. to demonstrate they do not believe in the campaign rhetoric of (sigh) President-elect DONALD TRUMP. The Hollywood Reportersays the safety pin is a way of showing people --especially minority groups targeted by the campaign-- who feel threatened by the nastiness that has continued to spread online and with hate crimes across the country.
The safety pin movement started over the summer in the United Kingdom, following the Brexit vote as a way to show refugees and immigrants they had friends. There have been numerous reports from around the country of harassment and intimidation of minorities since Tuesday's presidential election. There have also been nightly protests around the country of those bucking the Trump election results. (Bartha)Everyday heroes:
An ex-cop is swimming two-thousand miles across the Atlantic Ocean.
38-year-old former British police officer BEN HOOPER set off on his journey Sunday when he walked into the Atlantic in Senegal, Africa. He won't see land again until he arrives on the shores of Brazil in March. He's accompanied by two boats and a small crew who are sailing nearby as he swims. Hooper is wearing special clothing that camouflages him from sharks. He also has a tracking device so supporters can follow his swim online. (Still) -
