Sick bay:
TIM DALY will be getting surgery today to fix the two broken legs he suffered in a skiing accident while vacationing out at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. The NY Daily Newsreports producers of his CBS show, "Madam Secretary," have been told he'll be outta commission for six and eight weeks to fully recover and they may have to rewrite some of the show's episodes as a result... or incorporate the accident into the scripts. He plays the husband of the Secretary of State (played by TéA LEONI) on the show.
On, off and way-off-Broadway:
One of Broadway's most important standbys comes from an historic musical family. New York Newsday says JEVON McFERRIN is the understudy and standby for several roles in "Hamilton," including the lead. His father is singer BOBBY McFERRIN, and his grandfather was the late operatic baritone, ROBERT McFERRIN. Javon first got to step in as Alexander Hamilton on January 7th, and before that as Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson. A standby's job is to show up for every performance, and hang around until 15-minutes before the end of the show, in case anything happens. (Marino)
Reality Round-Up:
Netflix is bringing back the series, "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy."
Entertainment Weeklyreports the former Bravo makeover reality show is being "reimagined." The original series ran from 2003-07 with a "Fab Five" panel consisting of CARSON KRESSLEY, JAI RODRIGUEZ, THOM FILICIA, TED ALLEN and KYAN DOUGLAS, who would makeover a heterosexual subject on each episode. No word yet on the new "Fab Five," although there apparently have been rumors that some of the original guys could "have some involvement."Lowering expectations:
The Bronx Zoo in New York City is getting romantic for Valentine's Day.
The zoo is asking visitor's to name one of their Madagascar hissing cockroaches in honor of someone they love. The name-a-roach program costs $10 per person. Participants receive a romantic certificate showing the insect has been named after their Valentine. For a few dollars more, a plush cockroach and some chocolate will be included in the package. All money raised is donated to the Wildlife Conservation Society. (Still)
