Your tax dollars (not!) at work:
The Hill reports that the TRUMP administration is taking a serious look at capping tax deductions for charitable contributions. A source says that Treasury Secretary STEVE MNUCHIN and other senior Trump advisers are mulling their next steps on tax reform, but the proposal to limit deductions for charitable giving hasn't yet gained widespread acceptance.
Limiting tax deductions for major charitable gifts would be a way to raise revenue by targeting wealthier taxpayers and might get more Democrats on board with a major tax reform package. (Pacelli)Your Body:
Can Running Be Contagious? According to one study, it just might be. Researchers with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) found that sharing data about your run may make running "socially contagious." NBC News says people ran more, ran faster and ran more often if their friends using one of these apps did. Runners also were more likely to slack off on their running routines if their social media connections did too.
The M.I.T. study found that for every half mile extra run by a volunteer, the people in the volunteer's social network ran a bit more than usual themselves. And adding 10 minutes to a run led others to add about five minutes. When volunteers slacked off, so did most of their social network. Also, men "strongly influenced" other men, and women "moderately influenced" both men and women. But men men did not influence women's exercise routines at all. (Bartha)Trash talk and satellite dish:
Yesterday we told you LA LA ANTHONY was no longer wearing that 20-carat wedding ring that NY Knicks basketball player CARMELO ANTHONY gave her.
Sources told the NY Post that La La had actually moved out of their Manhattan home several months ago, claiming that he'd been cheating on her throughout the marriage.
And, they said Carmelo's "attitude is that all professional athletes do it" and after their relationship had reportedly degenerated into "more of a business arrangement than a marriage," he started looking elsewhere.
FYI: How much did that 20-carat ring La La got cost? Couldn't say for sure, although...
--The 20 carat diamond JAY Z gave BEYONCE cost him $5 million
--The 20.5 carat diamond KANYE gave KIM KARDASHIAN cost him $2 million
--And for contrast, a 20-carat diamond from Blue Nile is a mere $42-thousand and change.
They all pale in comparison to MARIAH CAREY's 35-carat ring she got from JAMES PACKER, though. That rock reportedly cost him $7.8 million. No wonder she didn't want to give it back.Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN has released an anti-TRUMP song. The Boss's ol' buddy JOE GRUSHECKY told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he had this tune called "That's What Makes Us Great" and he sent it over to Bruce. Springsteen liked it and agreed to add his vocals to the track. Bruce is no fan of the president. Last year, he told Rolling Stone magazine (quote), "The republic is under siege by a moron."
