The Airlines:
The airline problems continue.
In the latest negative news, a man is suing American Airlines *not* because they forced him to leave an over-sold plane, but because they seated him in a row with two "grossly obese" passengers --for a 14-hour flight. He claims the tubbies pushed into his space and caused him bruising and back pain.Fast Food:
KFC's Mother's Day promotion aims to make over traditional perceptions of Colonel Sanders. The brand is offering a free digital romance novella, set in Victorian England and featuring a young, hunky Harland Sanders as a handsome sailor with a mysterious past." Available on Amazon, the 92-page bodice ripper is dubbed "Tender Wings of Desire." (Kaye)
Watercooler:
Problems in France, where a couple of nights of frost have damaged the wine crops, leading experts to say that the vineyards in the Bordeaux region could lose about half of their yearly harvest. That would amount to between $1.1 and 2.2 billion dollars worth of wine, or a loss of about 350-million bottles. Guess you'll be buying (*gasp!*) domestic reds this year.
Fashion Emergency:
Filling in your brows with an eye pencil is so last year. Dragon eyebrows are the latest beauty trend to sweep Instagram. The New York Postsays the bold look involves carefully shaping your brow hairs into six little triangles, using a brush or spoolie, so they look like the spikes on the mythical creature's back. They are then fixed into place with hair gel or eyelash glue. (Bartha)
Big city problems:
Officials in San Francisco are trying to figure out what caused a sinkhole.
The hole opened up under a big rig truck in the city's South of Market neighborhood Friday, revealing a three-foot-deep void. Officials are stumped because sinkholes are usually caused by water leaks. But, this hole is completely dry. Crews say, prior to the 20-foot wide hole opening up, it was just asphalt over air. Luckily, nobody was injured. Crews are filling the hole with gravel and sand. Locals have nicknamed the pit "Sinkhole de Mayo," since it happened on May 5th. (Still)
