Hurricane update:
Tropical Storm "Don" is currently weakening as it approaches the Caribbean in the Atlantic Ocean, while the next named system expected to gain strength in the Pacific is named "Hillary." No, we're not making up those names --2017 just hates us.
USA Todaysays while Tropical Storm Don is expected to fall apart by today, the storm that's expected to be named Hillary is one of four active tropical cyclones occurring at the same time in the seas near the Americas in 20 years. The choice of names is a complete coincidence. Hurricane names are chosen years ahead of time by the World Meteorological Organization. And the names for eastern Pacific storms are pulled from a list that's separate from Atlantic storms. (Bartha)Bad luck:
Warning: note disgusting content!
Officials in Philadelphia want to know why thousands of cockroaches swarmed from a manhole cover, infesting an entire neighborhood. The Philadelphia Water Department says the bugs appeared suddenly Sunday night in the Bridesburg section of town. In some areas, the bugs are swarming so thick thatresidents can't see the ground. Experts say sewers may be clogged with garbage, attracting the bugs. Cockroaches are also known to multiply in the summer heat. (Still)Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
The "Thong Song" is back! SISQO has released a 2017 version of his massive hit from 1999 with the Norwegian production group, JCY. This time, the track is all EDM with more of a tropical sound and plenty of drops. Naturally, there's a booty-shaking video to go with it. Sisqo told Buzzfeed News that he didn't want to do a remake, but when he heard what JCY did with the song, he said (quote), "I thought it was dope and figured maybe it was time to put some new rims on the Bugatti."
