Trendspotting:
K-Mart is swapping the term "plus-size" for "fabulously sized." Fashionista.com says K-Mart is committed to ditching the term "plus-size" and is embracing "fabulously sized" sections in its stores. The section will contain extended sizes in all of K-Mart's women's apparel, intimates and swimwear lines.
Editor's note: Or --and we're just throwing this out there-- you could just call it Sizes! I know, crazy. But here's the concept: you put the clothes on the rack. You group those racks by size, like, you know, with all of the other sizes. And then people go in and they Find Their Size! (I know, crazy!) And it's not "plus-" size or "fabulous-" sized or "hefty-" sized or "straight-" sized --it's just Sizes, and people looking for clothes! (Bartha)Today's police blotter:
Well, this is a weird place to find a shark.
Cops searching the basement of a New York home discovered over a half-dozen sharks swimming around down there. Seven live sandbar sharks were found in a makeshift basement pool, along with a dead hammerhead and a pair of dead leopard sharks. Police raided the property after suspecting the resident was keeping illegal wildlife. The animals were safely transported to the Long Island Aquarium. The case is still being investigated.
Sandbar sharks can grow up to 8-feet-long and are on the road to becoming an endangered species. (Still)The Reel Deal:
Are you one of those people who heads to the Rotten Tomatoes website to find out how the movie rates with people before you head to the theatre?
Turns out a new study says the critical review score on the website really has no effect at all in determining whether people will go see the film in the first place.
Varietyreports the folks at the Data & Analytics Project at USC's Entertainment Technology Center found there was no correlation between Rotten Tomatoes' scores and a movie's box office take --either positively or negatively.
