On, off and way-off-Broadway:
"Springsteen on Broadway" officially opened last night at the Walter Kerr Theater. It's just The Boss on stage for two-hours, singing songs and telling stories. His wife, PATTI SCIALFA joins Bruce for "Brilliant Disguise" and "Tougher Than The Rest." And, the reviews are in:
--The New York Daily News: "Springsteen on Broadway" is intimate and persuasive, satisfying and soul-stirring as it tells the personal journey of an American classic. But it's definitely not a sing-along. The Boss reminded his audience of that. Fans couldn't resist joining in on "Dancing in the Dark" at the performance I attended. But Bruce Springsteen pumped the brakes, saying in his husky growl, 'I'll handle it myself.'"

--Variety: ""Springsteen on Broadway" is as much a self-made monument to its master's vision and hurricane-force ambition as it is to his life and career, and it bears the mark of a self-made man who'll write his own history, thank you very much."
--Deadline.com: "You might think Bruce Springsteen doesn't belong on Broadway, but you would be wrong." (Marino)Drug Bust of the Day:
It's not safe to eat marijuana and fly. JOSEPH HUDEK IV, from Tampa, Florida, was on a Delta flight home from Seattle when he decided that it was a good idea to chow down on some edible marijuana that he bought so he wouldn't get caught with it.
He told police in his statement, "My understanding is that it was legal to buy and consume marijuana in the state. After purchasing the edible marijuana, I ate it." He then proceeded to assault the flight crew when they tried to stop him from opening the door of the airplane in midflight.
At his arraignment, the judge accepted his story and let him go to stay at his mother's house in Tampa until his trial in February. The only stipulation was he wasn't allowed to fly there. He could travel by train or car. He's been charged with four counts of assault and interference with a flight crew. (Myers)Taking everything much too seriously:
These students in New York must really love sushi.
300 students and volunteers at State University of New York in Purchase just created a 504-foot-long sushi roll. They assembled on the school's Great Lawn Wednesday and used 500 cups of rice, 125 avocados, and 200 pounds of surimi to officially create the world's longest sushi roll. Food Network chef JET TILA was on hand to supervise. Together, they set a new world record. The event also raised nearly $3-thousand dollars for charity. (Still)
