Today's police blotter:
Massachusetts police have charged a guy with stealing several manhole covers.
Webster officers say the 46-year-old DARRIN P. LAVALLEE snatched multiple manhole covers Wednesday, replacing them with orange traffic cones. A witness spotted him in the act and called authorities. Cops say they stopped him later in the day and he admitted to the theft. The covers were later recovered at a salvage yard where Lavallee had sold them. He faces larceny charges. Police say he may have been trying to raise money to feed a drug addiction. (Still)Pet Patrol:
How much do you hate your dog shedding? Enough to put leotards on him or her?
The "Shed Defender" is a new type of "onesie" for your dog to wear around the house, containing any loose hair from getting all over your furniture, floor and even your car. Better yet, it has medical uses as well.
Instead of putting the dreaded "Cone of Shame" on Fido, you can use the onesie to cover any wounds or hot spots that your dog may was to dig at. See the adorable, yet humiliating outfit, here. (Myers)Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
The Recording Academy has added 25 recordings to the Grammy Hall of Fame. That will bring the current total to 1,063 recordings which are kept at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. This year's list includes the "Band of Gypsies" album by JIMI HENDRIX; SAM COOKE's "Bring It On Home To Me"; "Dream On" by AEROSMITH; DAVID BOWIE's "Space Oddity" and others. (Marino)
Your Body:
We all know that breastfeeding is best for babies. Now, WebMD.com says new research claims it may also give the mom significant long-term health benefits, too. Research from Kaiser Permanente Northern California found that type-2 diabetes could be prevented in moms who breastfed their babies. Women who breast-fed more than six months had about half the risk for type-2 diabetes as women who had never breast-fed. (Bartha)
