On, off and way-off-Broadway:
"Tootsie" is headed to Broadway. Deadline.com says DAVID YAZBECK who composed "The Band's Visit" is taking the 1982 DUSTIN HOFFMAN film and turning it into a musical. SCOTT ELLIS will direct. "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's" SANTINO FONTANA has the lead role of Michael Dorsey who transforms into Dorothy Michaels. The pre-Broadway run begins September 11th at the Cadillac Place Theater in Chicago. If all goes well, "Tootsie" opens on Broadway in the spring of 2019. (Marino)
Fashion Emergency:
Gucci is designing all the duds for ELTON JOHN's "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour. The Hollywood Reportersays Gucci's ALESSANDRO MICHELE had previously designed a capsule collection inspired by John's most memorable looks. He also designed the very bedazzled "Gucci Loves Elton John" jacket Elton during yesterday's tour announcement. (Bartha)
Whose body is it?
CHARLES MANSON passed away back in November, but his remains are still causing havoc in the courts. TMZ reports three men are trying to lay claim to his body and have filed documents with the Kern County Coroner. MICHAEL CHANNELS swears he's got the serial killer's will, MATTHEW ROBERT LENTZ claims to be his son and JASON FREEMAN believes he's his grandson.
Unfortunately, the mass murderer told prison officials he had no family --so a judge will have to make the final call.(Lee)Reality Round-Up:
The big rumor yesterday was that "Dancing with the Stars" producers were looking to land CAITLYN JENNER for the upcoming 26th season. Interestingly, the show will only run for four weeks, and feature just 10 athletes as contestants.
While the New York Post's Page Six gossip column spread the initial rumor, ABC responded by saying "We do not confirm or comment on casting rumors" and Caitlyn's rep simply said, "not true."
