Movies opening today (Apr 27):
As we've mentioned before, Hollywood experts believe the opening weekend of "Avengers: Infinity War" could be the biggest opening weekend ever, with an estimated take of between $225-$245 million, and it may even reach the $250-million mark, which would give it the title over the current champ, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which pulled in $248 million in its opening weekend back in 2015.
Fandango reported yesterday that "Avengers: Infinity War" has already sold out more than 2,000 showtimes on Fandango, and theater owners have continued to add new showtimes throughout the weekend to meet the high demand.Today's sexual harassment update:
LINDA VESTER --a former war correspondent for NBC News in the '90s-- has accused TOM BROKAW of harassment.
In a lengthy article, Varietyreports Vester claims she was "groped and assaulted" by Brokaw, who was then the anchor of "NBC Nightly News." She details two incidents, the first in January of 1994, when she became a full-time correspondent for "Weekend Today," at her hotel in Denver, and the second in May of 1995 when he showed up at her hotel room in London uninvited. Each time Brokaw, who has been married to Meredith Auld since 1962, reportedly attempted to forcibly kiss her and wanted to have an affair with her.
She said, "I felt powerless to say no. He could ruin my career. I don't recall saying, 'OK.' I just remember being frozen. I went cold inside and started shaking. And I felt trapped because he was undeterred by anything I had said before. It wasn't a request. He was insistent."
Brokaw released a statement through NBC which said "I met with Linda Vester on two occasions, both at her request, 23 years ago because she wanted advice with respect to her career at NBC. The meetings were brief, cordial and appropriate, and despite Linda's allegations, I made no romantic overtures towards her at that time or any other."Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
CARDI B has been sued by her former manager for (quote), "no less than $10-million dollars." Complex says SHAFT claims he discovered the rapper in 2015 and made her who she is today, but he's been kicked to the curb. His statement reads (quote), "While he is proud of their successful collaborations as she evolved from Instagram influencer to music megastar, Shaft is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which are detailed in the complaint. Shaft is confident that his lawsuit will validate his conduct and substantiate his legal claims."
FYI: Cardi B has also canceled some tour dates for this summer. She posted on Instagram that she's concerned about her pregnancy so her set this weekend at the Broccoli City Festival in Washington, D.C., will be her last until after the baby is born. (Marino)
