On the loose again:
Carjacking 101: if you're going to steal it, know how to drive it.
A man known as "Dan Dan The Driving Man," was charging his electric vehicle in St. Louis when a "a female put a gun to my head and another one over here and a man coming in on the right. I had three guns pointed at me. They said, 'Give us your car and your money or we'll shoot you'."
Dan, a ride-share driver, gave the carjackers his cell, $40 bucks in cash and backed away. But they couldn't get away in the car. He told them that they had to unplug the car before it would go. One woman jumped in the driver's seat and couldn't get it moving.
"She's panicking because she can't find the key. I said, 'It doesn't have a key, it's a smart car'."
Dan had the key fob to get the car going, so the suspects made him drive but that didn't work either because his car wasn't charged. So they all ran.
Dan's good friend,WENDELL PHILLIPS BERWICK, told police that Dan is a good person: "He has given himself for 20 years, giving the homeless free rides all over St. Louis." Dan himself said he forgives the would-be carjackers. "Turn yourself in. I forgive you. Sometimes you have to deal with the consequences that we suffer as the result of bad choices, but we can come back from that."
Police don't have any suspects yet. (Myers)Chocolate, Caffeine, Alcohol:
TheUnited States Armyhasfound the best time of day to get the most out of your daily cup of coffee. (Wow! Thank you to all of our soldiers!)LiveSciencesays researchers from the Army have developed an algorithm that makes personalized recommendations for timing your caffeine consumption, so you can drink the least amount of coffee to achieve the optimal level of alertness. The algorithm helped people improve their alertness by up to 64 percent --without consuming any more caffeine than normal. On the flip side, it found that with the right dosing schedule, people could reduce their caffeine consumption by up to 65 percent and still achieve peak alertness.
The new, just-published findings, will be used to enhance alertness for army workers. The Army also will be offered online for anyone to use by the end of the year on an-already-existing app called2B-Alert. (Bartha)Ratings:
Is it any wonder "Judge JUDY SHEINDLIN"makes $47 million a year?
Figures for the most-watched syndicated shows are out for the May TV sweeps, and they show Judy at the top for the ninth consecutive year. The closest competition was "Family Feud," followed by "Jeopardy" --the second- and third- most-watched shows.
In the talk-show department, "Dr. Phil" was the most-watched (although a distant ninth overall) followed by "Live with Kelly & Ryan" (19th overall) and "Ellen DeGeneres" (20th overall).
