More than 13-hundred complaints have been received from New Yorkers in the past 12 months over the Mister Softee trucks, which roam through neighborhoods and park while the jingle plays over... and over... and over to attract children and hand out treats.
The question for you: is there a sound in your neighborhood that gets on your last nerve? Or wherever you hear the sound does it trigger a good memory instead? There's a movie on Dusty Springfield in the works. The movie will be set in 1968 and actress Gemma Arterton will play Dusty, who rose to fame with "Son of a Preacher Man" and "Just a Little Lovin'."
What's wrong with this story? In Smithville, OH, a school resource officer at Liberty Prep has been put on leave after she used her taser to wake up a student that had fallen asleep in class and the teacher could not wake him up. The Washington Post says Maryssa Boskoski reached into her holster, removed the firing cartridge from the taser, then pulled the trigger, causing a sharp electric buzz that caused the stalled student to wake up.
The taser and electric current did not touch the student, but she's been put on unpaid leave.
The big question: since the student was not harmed, was she wrong to wake him up that way? And the follow-up: who would you like to wake up in that manner?
