Movie news: "Ghostbusters" fans will be delighted to find out that original director IVAN REITMAN's son, JASON, will be making a sequel due out in 2020. There's already been two sequels, "Ghostbusters II" in 1989 and the one with female ghostbusters, MELISSA McCARTHY and KRISTEN WIIG, in 2016. Jason says there's gonna be "a lot of wonderful surprises and new characters for the audience to meet."
More movies: Apple will be putting together its first original feature film with famed director FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA's daughter directing. It's not the first film she's done, of course --she also did "The Virgin Suicides" and "Marie Antoinette," and won an Oscar for her screenplay for 2003's "Lost in Translation." That film starred Bill Murray, who'll also be in the latest one, which will be called "On the Rocks," reportedly about a young mother who reconnects with her playboy father.
You wouldn't think that a place as worldly as the United Nations would be a hotbed of sexual harassment, but apparently that's the case. A new survey of their employees reveals that 33 percent of them reported at least one instance of sexual harassment in the past two years --40 percent when they were asked about harassment during their entire career at the U.N.
The survey was taken by more than 30-thousand workers at the U.N., or about 17 percent of the workforce there.
Question for your listeners (of course): What type of harassment have you faced --unwanted gestures or touching, offensive jokes or stories, or inappropriate remarks about your appearance or sexual activities?Congratulations to the folks in Chicago, Illinois, which celebrated Monday without a gun being fired at somebody. That's the first day since New Year's (that'd be 13 days if you're keeping track) that nobody was shot in anger.
Just as an FYI --there were 561 homicides in the Windy City in the last year --more than New York City and Los Angeles combined. -
