Probably no surprise that Super Bowl 53 is now the lowest rated Super Bowl in the past ten years. CBS says 100.7 million tuned in for the show from all sources including digital and interactive. That's gotta be a problem for advertisers, who spent around $5 million each to run a commercial during the game. It's the third year in a row ratings have gone down for the Big Game.
Yes, there's a "Party of Five" remake in the works.
The pair of writers who did the original series is also behind the new one at Disney's Freeform network, but this time the five stars will be five immigrant children who are struggling to survive as a family when their parents are suddenly deported to Mexico. If you were one of the folks who watched the Super Bowl for the ads, you may have noticed an Anheuser-Busch ad which trashed Miller Lite and Coors Lite for using corn syrup to brew their beers. However, CNBC talked to an associate professor in nutrition and food studies at George Mason University, and MARGARET SLAVIN told them the corn syrup used is different than the "high-fructose corn syrup" that's reportedly behind the obesity epidemic.
In the brewing process, the folks at Miller Lite and Coors Light use corn syrup to feed yeast... which breaks down the syrup, turning it into alcohol and carbon dioxide. So the actual sugars in the syrup are mostly all gone when the final beer is finished. -
