Fast food news:
--Sonic will be offering half-price shakes all day today (Wed, Mar 13).
--Corned Beef n' Cabbage will be returning to participating Cracker Barrel restaurants for St. Patrick's Day through Sun, Mar 17).
--Tomorrow, March 14, is PI Day... get it? 3.14 is the math equivalent of the math constant Pi (3.14159...), so a number of restaurants are offering deals on Pizz PIEs (Get it?) including 7-Eleven, Bakers Square, Blaze Pizza, Bojangles, California Pizza Kitchen, Cicis, Fired Pie, Marie Callender's, Pieology, Urban Bricks and Your Pie. Check with your local restaurant to make sure of their offer.Sad news from the West Coast, where authorities now say 18-year-old college student, NOAH DOMINGO, attended a University of California, Irvine, fraternity party and drank... a lot. So much that he was found unresponsive in his own bed later --although he made it back home, he'd died from "acute ethanol poisoning," and the coroner said his blood-alcohol level was .331 --four-times the legal limit to drive.
The school suspended his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon after his death on Jan 12, and it's still on suspension.
As usual this calls into question the habits of drinking at college parties and what you tell your kids.In an interesting follow-up to this story, KDKA TV reports a guy named DEL HALL, who works at Fifty West Brewing Company in Cincinnati, has found a unique way to mark Lent --he's only drinking beer until Easter Sunday --and has also given up all food. Hall says he's following the lead of monks in the 1600s, who would fast during the season by a bock beer diet. Follow him on Twitter @Del_Hall. You're welcome.
ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS will be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame Thursday (tomorrow) morning at 11:30 am (Pacific) in front of the Hollywood Toy & Costume Shop. Accepting the star will be ROSS BAGDASARIAN and JANICE KARMAN, the owners and producers of the Chipmunks.
As you probably know, Ross' dad, Ross Bagdasarian, Sr., first introduced Alvin and The Chipmunks in 1958 on the novelty record "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late!)," which sold 4.5 million copies and has went on to become one of the most popular Christmas songs of all time. Since then, they've had multiple albums, TV specials and series, Grammy awards, Emmy nominations, and four motion pictures.
Don't expect Alvin to show up, though, so that Ross can yell, "Allllllvin!!!" -
