Director, choreographer, and producer KENNY ORTEGA is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 11:30 am (Pacific) on Hollywood Boulevard next to the Pantages Theatre. Actresses JENNIFER GREY, KATHY NAJIMY and GARY MARSH, the President and Chief Creative Officer for Disney Channels will be speaking at the unveiling.
Among his many accomplishments, Kenny choreographed the dance scenes in "Dirty Dancing," along with a huge number of music videos including MADONNA's "Material Girl" and tours for artists including BARBRA STREISAND, MICHAEL JACKSON, CHER, BETTE MIDLER, DIANA ROSS, OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN, GLORIA ESTEFAN, The POINTER SISTERS, KISS, The TUBES, and CHAKA KAHN.Uh huh-huh: Daily Variety reports AUSTIN BUTLER will play ELVIS PRESLEY in BAZ LUHRMANN's upcoming film about the King. TOM HANKS is reportedly playing Elvis's manager, Col. TOM PARKER, in the film. You've seen Austin as James "Wilke" Wilkerson in "Switched at Birth," Jordan Gallagher on "Ruby & The Rockits," Sebastian Kydd in "The Carrie Diaries," and Wil Ohmsford in "The Shannara Chronicles."
Former "Glee" star LEA MICHELE is doing the holiday movie thing. "Same Time, Next Christmas" will air before the holidays on ABC, and is reportedly about a woman who met her childhood sweetheart during her family's Christmas trip to Hawaii and then gets reunited (surprise!) with him after a spending (sob!) a few years apart. Probably not coincidentally, Lea will also be doing a Christmas album for release this year as well. No word on whether any of the songs on the album will also appear in the film as well.
Got plans for September 20th? More than a million people have now signed up for a Facebook Live event to see "aliens" in Nevada's Area 51, the US Air Force base that's been the center of alien conspiracy theories --and where the government has allegedly been keeping aliens. See the post HERE.
The news about the coming "raid" has gotten to the Feds, and they're not amused, with a spokeswoman telling the Washington Post that Area 51 is currently being used as "an open training range for the U.S. Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area." In other words, the Air Force could be using live ammo as part of their training. -
