Movies, take 1, or 2, or maybe 3 now: Warner Brothers is putting together a Barbie movie, with Margot Robbie starring. It's the latest take on the fashion icon, since there have been two previous movies that never got off the ground. In one, Amy Schumer and then Anne Hathaway were attached to star; another one never got off the ground at all. If it gets to that point, the latest one will reportedly have Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach writing the script, with Gerwig --who directed "Lady Bird"-- once again in the director's chair.
Now that Prime Day is over, the folks at Amazon are putting together a TV series about Jack Reacher, the character from the book series written by Lee Childs. If you're saying, "there already was a couple of movies starring Tom Cruise," you'd be correct, and they did so well at the box office that the TV series was a foregone conclusion. Don't look for Tom to star in the TV series, though.
Who'll be the Democratic candidate to face Trump in 2020? If you just look at the top fund-raisers this past quarter, the top-5 are
1. South Bend, IN Mayor Pete Buttigieg, $24.9 million
2. Former VP Joe Biden, $22.0 million
3. MA Sen Elizabeth Warren, $19.2 million
4. VT Sen Bernie Sanders, $18.0 million
5. CA Sen Kamala Harris, $11.8 million
In case you're wondering, Trump's campaign committees raised $68 million in the second quarter alone. -
