PAUL McCARTNEY says he's writing a stage musical for that classic JIMMY STEWART Christmas movie, "It's a Wonderful Life." The NY Post reports he's gotten screenwriter LEE HALL, who also wrote the scripts for "Billy Elliot" and "Rocketman" with ELTON JOHN, to do the script for "It's a Wonderful Life." Producer BILL KENWRIGHT says the production will premiere in the U.K. in late 2020 along with plans to move to Broadway later on.
Berkeley, California, has reportedly decided to remove all gendered language from its city code. So "manholes" will be called "maintenance holes," "firemen" will become "firefighters," "manmade" will be "artificial" and all instances of "men and women" will be replaced by "people" --or to drill down, "he" and "she" will replaced by "they."
NBC News in Berkeley reports the ordinance will be reviewed again next week, and --if approved-- will go into place in late August.
Quote from my daughter: "That's such a California thing to do."Check on your elderly neighbors... especially tomorrow night. The National Weather Service says there are more than 100 local heat records are expected to fall Saturday, many of them record-high nighttime lows. Some temps in the East won't be below the mid- to upper-70s or even 80 degrees at night, which can be a problem.
Sunday is National Ice Cream Day... and several national ice cream businesses have deals for you:
--Carvel: When you get a cup or cone of soft serve ice cream on July 21, you get another one free.
--Whole Foods Market. Amazon Prime members get 35-percent off all ice cream and frozen novelties.
--Baskin-Robbins: (various locations) two quarts for $7.99. Use the code STRANGER THINGS when you check out (promotes their new "Stranger Things" flavor). And $1.50 deals on kids for a regular sized scoop.
--Cold Stone Creamery will offer a Buy One, Get One deal, but you gotta join My Cold Stone Club Rewards by Saturday (July 20).
--Dippin' Dots will treat you to a free mini cup of Dippin' Dots at participating locations.
