Dunkin' Donuts --now just called Dunkin'-- is reportedly adding a plant-based meat substitute to its menu --a breakfast sandwich made with Beyond Meat sausage. The chain is reportedly test-marketing it beginning with it's Manhattan locations.
In other food news, the folks who make Pabst Blue Ribbon beer are testing "PBR Hard Coffee" this month in five states on the East Coast. "It is kind of like a Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee, with alcohol," Tony Olmstead, a general manager for the Maine liquor store chain Roopers Beverage and Redemption, told the Portland Press Herald. "It has done extremely well for us." The company is also testing the drink in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, and Florida. PBR says they will roll it out nationally next year in four-packs of 11-ounce cans. Bottoms up!
Finally... if you've ever wanted a cup of Starbuck's coffee, but didn't have the time to run out to the nearest store, or the coffee-maker and branded coffee in the office, the company just announced they'll be using Uber Eats and expanding to nationwide delivery by early next year. In case you were unaware, Starbucks already uses Uber Eats to bring coffee to you if you live in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Orange County, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, DC. Bottoms up again!
Looking for an unusual place to visit on your vacation this summer? How about the world-famous Toilet Seat Art Museum?
Unfortunately, BARNEY SMITH, the owner and artist of more than 1,300 toilet seat lid covers passed away Tuesday evening. He was 98 years old. Barney was a retired master plumber and picked up toilet seat art as a hobby. He opened up his makeshift museum out of his garage in 1992, then, as it grew bigger, moved into the Alamo Heights area in San Antonio. Two years ago, it was moved to Colony, Texas, where it will stay --and you'll still be able to visit, despite Barney's passing, at The Truck Yard, at 5959 Grove Lane. The Facebook page is HERE.BMW will be ramping up its electric car products.
The company announced yesterday they've been adding production lines at their factories to put together batteries for the electric cars, and will be making an X3 vehicle in addition to their X5 plug-in hybrid vehicle, adding it to their product line by the end of the year.Sad to find out that actor RUTGER HAUER, who co-starred with HARRISON FORD in the "Blade Runner" movie, has died at his home in the Netherlands. He was 75. Hauer played a murderous android in the film, and was in many other films as well.
Meanwhile, as it turns out, there's a Blade Runner-themed bar coming to downtown LA in November. It'll be called "Nexus 2019" according to TimeOut LA, but you'll have to bring the wallet --admission will run you $82 --which includes one drink and some kind of souvenir. -
