Politics, anyone? What's wrong with this picture: None other than MONICA LEWINSKY will be one of the producers on the next "American Crime Story" series --which is all about PRESIDENT CLINTON's affair with her when she was a 22-year-old White House intern. And the series is set to air starting on Sep 27 of next year --just before the 2020 elections which will be held a bit more than a month later.
As far as casting goes, "Booksmart" actress BEANIE FELDSTEIN will play Monica, while SARAH PAULSON will play LINDA TRIPP, who secretly recorded Lewinsky's private phone calls about her affair with the president. No word who'll be playing BILL and HILLARY CLINTON.
Of course, the big question: could the series have an effect on the elections???Sad news: WILLIE NELSON has had to cancel the remaining dates of his current tour, because of a breathing problem. Willie, who's now 86, still had 30 dates remaining on the tour with ALISON KRAUSS on many of the dates.
While we're on music news, MTV has announced that TAYLOR SWIFT will be doing a live performance at the upcoming Video Music Awards --her first at the VMAs since 2015. She's won seven VMAs so far, and you can bet she'll be performing the first single from her new album, "Lover."
The VMAs will be broadcast live on Mon, Aug 26 at 8 pm (Eastern/Pacific).New museum in downtown Nashville for none other than GLEN CAMPBELL. The folks announced the Glen Campbell Museum and Rhinestone Stage yesterday (Thursday), on the second anniversary of his death. The museum will be at the corner of Broadway and 2nd Avenue and feature 4,000-square-foot of Glen's stuff.
On and off Broadway: If you haven't seen the musical "Jesus Christ Superstar" since it premiered in 1969, now is your chance. The 50th anniversary edition of the ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER and TIM RICE musical will begin in October in Austin, TX, before heading out across the country.
Meanwhile, the musical "Bat Out of Hell" opened last night at the New York City Center. Two words: MEAT. LOAF.
